Bit disappointed with the attendance last night. When you take away the opposition support, there were about 7,400 Rotherham fans. That's about 400 less than went to the Pompey match. Strange because Tuesday night football was always very popular in the past and we used to attract more support than Saturdays - particularly if it was a local derby. If we were playing badly I could understand it. However, now we're in the top 6 and in with a playoff shout, perhaps the doubters will reappear? I'm sure it's something TS scratches his head about when he's considering investing in the club.

I guess some of it is people like me cancelled their season tickets after last season as a protest at the way the club was being run, so pick and choose their games now.
You would have thought though, Bradford would have been seen as a 'derby' game as you say.
People tell me it's not a simple experience for the casual supporter to pay on the night with no choice over seat allocation unless arriving early. It does put many off going. Strange when Bradford supporters were allowed to pay cash at the turnstiles and sit where they wanted !
I suppose the thing that bothers me is that there seems to be an apathy around the area for the club. If you were the owner, or a potential investor, or even a decent player, you'd think twice about your association with the club if the majority of locals only appeared half-hearted. If we can't attract a bigger following when we're on a 9 match unbeaten run, scoring in every one of our last 22 games and playing some great football, perhaps League One is where we belong and where we deserve to be?
Davidedin, surely you must be encouraged by what you have seen this season to go out and buy a half season ticket and support the Miller's .
Hi Len
Yes and No.
Yes - I'm very happy with how Warne has got the best out of the team.
No - I'm not yet convinced about our 'risk versus reward' balance. None of us want the old days when we went bust every other season, but I still maintain we are plenty big enough to be a Championship side, and feel we wasted the opportunity through lack of invesment in the squad, plus our inability to land target players or keep decent loan players, which probably amounts to the same thing. Until I see that change I will pick and choose the games I go to.
I'll always be a supporter and I don't feel any guilt for what I've done as I've held a season ticket for many years despite living in Scotland, I walked to Huddersfield etc etc...

Bit of a chicken and egg thing really Glenn. I started going to Millmoor in the late 50's early 60's and experienced mediocrity from the club until 1980/81 season and since then we've been up and down like a brides nighty. The cynics amongst us after that glorious day at Wembley would have been shaking their heads saying, "they'll be back down" even while the celebrations where still on going; and I was hoping against hope that this time it would be different. It wasn't…. and we were very ingloriously relegated breaking all the worst records in the process.
Barnsley on the other hand, who were promoted with us in 80'81 built on their success and despite an odd bad season over the last 37 years, now have a successful well run club that many of us would be happy to emulate. Lets not forget they also won promotion to the games top tier, a feat that our club has never done and seem to be able to attract players to themselves in preference to us. i'e Kieffer Moore et al. This is why I do not accept the thesis that we are just another L1 club and amount to nothing more. Other similar sized clubs to ours can do it, then why can't we?
The proprietors of our RUFC over the same time span have failed to invest and even fleeced the club, and for whatever reason have never built on any success but allowed it to trickle away. Last season being the latest exhibition. I can fully understand the cynicism from would be supporters who will be asking. "Will it ever be any different?"
" 9 match unbeaten run, scoring in every one of our last 22 games and playing some great football, perhaps League One is where we belong"
I enjoyed about 30 / 40 % of the last two matches.
The rest was poor football - and the unbeaten run is due to us playing worse teams than ourselves! Party pooped - perhaps but the signing of Wood is a backward step - although the rest of our defence is amateurish and better teams would have punished us soundly during this run.
So Rotherham folk are seeking better performances to watch and waiting to see the ambition ( if any ) the club has - the Wood signing is perhaps indicative.
"This is why I do not accept the thesis that we are just another L1 club"
We did achieve our ambition to become a championship club however we never backed this achievement with an adequate budget and subsequently we are where we are - league one.

i think with proper investment both on and off the pitch we could become a championship club but are the stewarts prepared to put that amount of investment into the club.
in regards ground size correct me if i am wrong but ours isn't much smaller than Bournemouth's ground.
so it show with the right investment we could get there but is tony prepared to except outside investment
paul warne seems to have created a band of brothers that with some tinkering could become a really good side
