We do need to strengthen all over and - for me - in defence is the priority BUT....We have a goalscorer that's suited us this season.....you could be looking a long time for this to happen - a proven goalscorer !

Tough decisions to be made but considering the amount of cash we've splashed so far....£250k should NOT be hard for us to better.

Look - listen & learn....

If Fry is to be believed, £250K looks fair value. It might come down to wages. As long as he isn't going to upset the apple cart with wages (and at that transfer fee he surely won't need bigger wages than other players who have cost similar fees) he would be a good buy at that. This might be a test of whether or not the statements about top 5 budget, buying if the right player is available at the right price, and the Ward money being available were genuine. I wouldn't be surprised if one or two at the NYS are cursing Barry Fry at the minute.

If we miss out after we reputedly bid £550,000 our "director of recruitment" needs sacking immediately. I for one don't believe we bid anywhere near £550k as Tony would have a stroke. If we were in for Messi we'd only bid £200k max, unfortunately that's the sort of club we are.

I think in our heart of hearts we already know mate. Journeymen 30 somethings looking for a last payday or "prospects" from a PL or Championship club, that's the Rotherham United way I'm afraid, " Director of recruitment"or not. If we DO manage to loan a gem (eg; Moore) he'll get nicked from under our nose by a similar or smaller sized club.....sad but oh so true & this has been the case for many many years.

It may be true but it doesn't make it right.

We are all scarred as fans by the last few season's of Booth's tenure and everything that followed.

It is absolute fact for any Private Business that if you take no risk at all and fail to invest, your business will eventually go bust.

It's the prospect of a failing club in the medium to long term that is behind most of our outrage at not landing players like Moore. It's the same outrage that saw us clearly waste the opportunity the Championship presented through the exact same lack of investment and poor player contract management team.

If indeed Moore goes to Posh for £250k and we don't have any other gems (we won't will we) I will sadly join the 'TS Out' brigade, despite all the good he has done. For the club to succeed in the long run we need to replace our backroom staff and invest.

Why are we getting excited when the Court Jester of the Football League Barry Fry makes a statement 're Keifer Moore. Let's examine the statement. He claims that they have had a bid for Moore accepted by Ipswich but his Chairman may not be too happy with the terms. Conclusion, all this statement tells us is that 250 thousand is the initial asking price for Moore and that Fry has not even run it past his Chairman yet.
Surely if Rotherham are serious about signing the player they can match this or even better this offer.
Ipswich are being very smart here accepting an offer from Peterborough which they know will start a bidding war for Keifer s signature.
I hope Rotherham keep their head in this situation and don't go too far with their offer. We need to make a sensible offer not an outrageous one.
The other part of the equation is Moore himself, Ipswich can accept any offer they like but if the player doesn't
Want to go there what do they do about it. Warne is being very astute about the whole thing keeping in touch with Keifer knowing that the boy enjoyed his time here and that the fans loved him. This may count for more than we all think. I thing Warne is right this may run on for a few weeks before it is resolved. So keep your nerve and watch this space.

Thank goodness for Towd Codger - Banter's very own Rudyard Kipling!  "If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs".  Welcome back young man!!

In the above link Barry Fry is quoted as saying that, ' there is a discrepancy over how any potential fee would be paid, but is hopeful of getting the deal done.'

If we lose the best player we have had for years to a rival and at a cost of only 250k then we are an utter shambles. I despair at the way the club is run and what's the point in selling Ward, Agard etc if we aren't going to spend some of that money on replacements. Top 5 Budget my arse.

If we allowed him to move to Peterborough or any other club in this division for any less than £500k it would be shocking. We wouldn't have any excuse. To pay that money and the wage that would go with it wouldn't exceed what we were told was available this month to spend, it wouldn't risk bringing a stranger into the group (something Warne said he would be wary about), and wouldn't be a gamble because we know what we are getting. If we aren't able to get him ourselves for that sort of money it would suggest to me that (1) we are actually broke or (2) that we have no ambition or (3) both.

I think now that Fry has yelped his big fat ****ney mouth the board will be seething, they know what the fallout from this will be if we don't get Moore, we can't spend 250k we haven't got it, I've been saying for 2yrs or more we're skint, more than skint. I'll be dumb founded if we sign him.

tony stewart in my opinion made a statement of intent when he made the famous top 5 budget

now if moore gets signed by fatty fry at posh for 250K with add ons then the proverbial will hit the fan. people will start voting with their feet and fan unrest may get more vocal

because unfortunately no one will trust  anything that comes out of tony's mouth. This will not only affect the club but could also affect his other businesses . because trust in business is paramount.

tony the sword of Damocles is dangling over you and its all your own making

I think you all need to calm down. Slating TS calling the club. Why not just wait and see what happens and where he ends up? Would like him to sign but we also need other players. We only have so much money as does any club. We need defenders and to put all our eggs in one basket is madness. Some of the comments when nothing has been decided yet is embarrassing.

Latest on Keifer Moore saga. Peterborough Chairman rubbished claim that they are about to sign Keifer or any other striker. Tells fans to ignore the reports and appears to admonish Barry Fry for going to the press on this matter. Make of this what you will. I advised you all on my previous post not to get too excited about the reports emanating from Fry,I repeat what I said previously this man really is the Court Jester. Over to you Ipswich.

 Totally agree TC.

Logically, why would KM go to Posh over the Millers? No reason whatsoever imo.

Most players want to play at the highest level they can so, a move to an average league 1 team does not seem too likely.

Now if a Championship club came in for him, that's maybe a different story?
