You can't under estimate the value of a good coach at a football club.
When we got Ball we were looking to develop quality youth through to quality pro's - but that takes patience and skills we don't have at our club and other clubs don't have it either - they want a slot-in player and you can't blame them.
The business plan to develop youth was right when Ball came to us - we have now changed our goalposts to be cheap as chips and whatever happens - happens.

Must agree with your comments there, Bornamiller. A successful and sustainable football club needs a strong and vibrant youth academy facility to attract potential professional players. Youngsters will be tempted to sign for other clubs with such academies which have the wherewithal, expertise, time and energy, to develop any potential stars of the future. This is where RUFC is sadly lacking.
So are we basically thinking that warne has sent do ball out on loan a defender mind you who has potential because he doesnt fit what ever criteria warne has for a central defender. Well im sorry paul but i think you are missing the point here and you are not exactly spoilt for choice defence wise are you
As he isnt getting games at aberdeen for what ever reason. So get him back and get a defensive coach in to work with him onarise ajayi and ithewe and then take a good look As those 4 could be our defence for the rest of this season. And next.
What habe you to lose he is our.player why should we get another team player fit or experience at the expense of our youth
I think we need someone to lead the line. Such a shame about Proctor. JCH not the answer. Yates just not strong enough to play that role.
Centre midfield - Vaulks never hides and is an honest player but he just isn't good enough to boss a game. He isn't an organiser and doesn't read the game, and gives the ball away so often. Frecks improved us enormously when he came on but you just can't count on him being fit. Potter is a worry fitness-wise and for me he doesn't do enough (don't know if he has been carrying a knock all season).
Centre back - Said it on another thread - we need a 28 year old Craig Morgan type.
The two keepers in contention aren't great but if we have limited room to manoeuvre they will do for now as there are bigger priorities.
If we can bring three or so in, get in a solid centre back, someone to be a big presence and hold things together in midfield, and a target man to play off. If we have to offload a couple to make room then Vaulks, Price and Forde for me wouldn't be big losses. We have better players in the positions they play.
We are saving on the Moore wages, and of course we were told the Ward money would be released in January, so hopefully there will be some scope for improvement.

Dont mean to be funny Smiler but Warne has already said any incomming will be loans and he has to get rid of 2 or 3 to make that happen. There is no Ward money, in fact there is NO money
What Warne actually said was “There are more likely to be loan arrivals than permanent ones in January. There isn’t a striker I have highlighted who we are looking to purchase, other than, obviously, Kieffer."
I would have no difficulties if PW could achieve the movements which Smiler suggests. I'm not convinced that Moore will return to Ipswich in January - what evidence do we have that this will happen apart from a casual comment from McCarthy? On Ipswich's current form, I imagine he'll be happy to keep Moore at Rotherham for the rest of the season and I wouldn't be surprised if he might entertain a decent offer. It's all speculation but it's as good as any other info that's available.
On Vaulks, I would inform him that he will be considered a utility player in future and that it is unlikely that he'll play in midfield. He's definitely shown more promise as a defender. Yesterday was an ideal opportunity for him to impose himself but he wasted so many shooting opportunities from outside the box (something you expect him to excel at) and his distribution was largely poor. He did improve when put in the back line.
Forde had a couple of good moments yesterday but on the whole I think his skill levels and his strength on the ball have been disappointing. We need someone who can beat a man and put in a good cross. Virtually every side that has played at NYS has had a player who can put in a really pacy and threatening cross - we have no-one with that skill.
I don't think we need wholesale changes to turn the current squad into a quality one. 3 or 4 new faces in January, be they loan or permanent, could make for an interesting end to the season.
I agree with most of that Glenn, except that I think we are more than three or so players away from being contenders. I think it is more than that.
If there is no money available in January then we were mis-led. I am hoping that we are keeping our powder dry. But I am not convinced.
The frustration with our wide players is that Williams and Taylor can beat a player - Williams with his trickery and Taylor with his pace - but their final ball is often poor. Of the two I prefer Williams because he is two-footed so can beat a full-back on either side, and he is capable of the sublime occasionally. Forde can actually deliver a decent cross but apart from a moment on Saturday when he got a ricochet that fell for him I don't remember him going past a man in his time with us. Newell has skill and a marvellous left foot if not the pace. None of them quite have the lot. I guess that is why they are playing in League One, not higher.
For me Williams and Newell would be the preferred starters if all were fit.
I think "Clear the wages" is the most pertinent part of all those that have left under Warne's reign. He is a low budget - no argument manager and the fans entertainment suffers. We have scored 5 against some very poor teams.
The quality of football is poor.
We - as a team - are one trick pony's and that was Run Run Run Rotherham....We'll most managers have recognised that denying the space to Run Run into is enough to stifle our one trick pony management.
Warne's a nice guy but so is my dustbin man.
But having said that - we still have a solvent football club. But this run might just continue and that true bore draw was dreadful and PW says we were amazing ?
We were lucky !
