Just seen West Ham beat Chelsea by parking the bus with breaks to good effect. That's exactly what Warne never did in the championship and he played expansive football with disastrous results. Moyes has drilled them well but his players have quality. Warne continues "trying" to attack but the cheap as chips defence he's brought in are not fit for purpose.....Two row Z moments in the last match was children's football. So - we haven't the players or the management nouse to change the system....I'll go for 2 - 1 to Blackpool having scored first.
that was the worst 45 mins i have seen. no idea just big boot and lucky to be only one down. this has to be deliberate the board must want us in league 2 to reduce the wage bill because no executives of a company accept their staff to perform like this
Pleased to see Ball getting a run in the side and doing well.
It didn't sound like a classic but to be fair to Warne he changed personnel and formation after a dire first half and it seems to have done the trick. Credit to him for having the guts to do that early on.
Relieved to have won but it can't mask the fact that we are very very poor in lots of areas, particularly at the back. Ronnie described us as 'brittle' which I think is both polite and an understatement.
JCH - his three match chance to show his mettle seems to have lasted 45 minutes during which he offered nothing - not even a fair shift. Time to call an end on his time with us.
GREAT RESULT. Massive credit for coming from behind to win for the first time in ages......Christ on a bike we needed that, need to keep it going v Argyle.
I will be there cheering them on, full of Christmas spirit (or some sort of spirit!) so on that basis, I'll go for a Millers win 1-2
UTM :)
Good call, David. Well done. Something to celebrate.
Haha... thanks wostsisname..... I should have bet on it
I enjoyed the result and it was a fantastic weekend I had with great friends... just got back to Scotland.
I agree with one of the posts above about the first half being one (if not the) worst Millers performance ever. Blackpool were dire too, but at least could made breaks and pass the ball.
It felt good to win though and the second half we grafted out that win. You could see how much it meant to the players and I hope that turns a corner confidence wise:
My overall observations:
Last year I said I thought Fisher and Mattock were our worst EVER full backs, I stand by that and Mattock was again shocking and for me has to be the first out of the door (but I'm not the manager, who sees something that doesn't actually exist in Mattock)
Next : I don't get the stick Vaulks is getting - he was by far our best player in the first half, and in the middle (not on the wing) can spray the ball around and he created what little we had in the first 45 mins - so for me a positive.
Yates grafted in the second half and showed he has to be picked more often, Ball got his goals and with it I'd suggest a massive boost in confidence.
My biggest observation though - was the change it tactics in the second half - I HOPE LIKE HELL that the penny has finally dropped with Warne that the players he has are no good at all at hoof ball, but actually are not that bad at playing on the ground. Our strikers need the ball at their feet – we have no ‘target’ men – so hopefully from now on we go back to playing football.
So – despite the first half… I’m hoping there are a lot of positives out of that game… UTM 😊

You're right about Mattock and JCH, David. JCH should be shipped out in January, but I think RUFC will hang on to him for now. As for playing to feet I think it's the way forward. Good result though last Saturday.
