Should Warne go or stay?

Should we persist with "club legend" Paul Warne in the hope he can pull things around?

2 things need to happen. 1 he either needs to bring in an experienced coach and get rid of barker or 2 He will get the sack anyway because under the current set up it’s clearly not working and it’s getting worse.

3. It costs good money to employ a tried, tested and experienced coach/manager with a proven track record. That is to say a coach/manager who might bring us success on the field.

RUFC won't sack Warney.

im giving him until after xmas

with moore banned for 3 matches warne has a chance to prove to me he has the ability to have a working formation and tactics than can work better than hoof ball with proctor out for season and moore now banned for 3 matches he has 3 fit first team strikers to work with for next 3 matches. and this is tactical dilemma

scenario 1
does he stay with 4 5 1 if he does then it proves he has no other tactical ideas and we all know that formation wont work with ball as he is not a lone striker and that he needs someone to play off

scenario 2

he plays ball upfront in 4 4 1 1 with ball playing behind either harris or yates

if he goes scenario 1 for the next 3 matches and predictably we wont get much then he deserves to be sacked as he clearly isnt learning from what is blatantly obvious. If he isn't then tony will start to feel the unrest from the fans

However if he goes for 2 and it fails at least he was worked with what he has got but he also needs funding for more players plus a defensive coach never mind what he says

Three points last week at Bristol Rovers and we would have been 7th, pushing for the play-offs and everything would have been so much better!
A bit too early to push the 'panic button' for me.

Warney needs a season or 2 - we won't go down, but then neither will we pull up any trees, that's fine - it takes more than 1 summer transfer window even for clubs prepared to spend, in our case we'll need to visit lots of charity shops to find the treasure - so 4-5 summer windows?

Personally I think that Warne has it in him to turn this around and to get success.

BUT his learning curve is steep and he doesn't have time to figure out the balance.

He fundamentally makes mistakes that can be rectified.

1. Know your best team. Pick your best team.

2. Get rid of anyone who does not have confidence in their own abilities.

3. Acquire quality and get that fit rather than get fit people and try to instill quality.

4. Lear tactics of measures and counter - measures. Best shown by Paul Hurst, who put a striker on with 10 men and knew this would put us on the back foot.

5. Know your strengths

6. Know your weaknesses

7. ALWAYS have someone on the back post for a corner - whether defending or attacking.

8. Fans don't pay to watch 4 5 1 at home. Most fans would rather go home saying I know we lost 4 - 5 but I enjoyed that game rather than go home saying "that boring 0-0" was a point well won.

9. Stop being one of the lads and start being a leader.

10. NEVER tell the opposition what team you are going with and how you will play before a macth.

I'd add Tom Thorpe to that too

I'd say all players that have left the club under Warne was because of financial reasons.

I have said before that:

Cheap as chips forwards either work or don't work - you don't score !

Cheap as chips defenders cost you games - and that's exactly what is happening.

Sorry - regarding OP - Warne had 60% of the championship season to make a fist of it and at least try to save the season - he played expansive football against teams that did it better. That is bad management in football term....his fault yes - should go yes !

He's let good players go ( better than we have ) saying they were not Rotherham type players - rubbish - they went to reduce the wage bill - his fault yes - should he go - yes.

But he TS's man - chosen to take us down and t reduce our wage structure....that is success in the opinion of the chairman.

As a football manager - yes go

As a company man - why should he !

Get rid of Warne and who do we get.The people at the top are clueless when it comes to appointments. The writing was on the wall when Warnock told the chairman what he needed to do and that scared him.So put a lad in charge who wont cost the earth and not question anything. This club is at a crossroad with no visible plan,We need someone with the ability to run a football club, sacking the manager is not the real remedy.

You can do all the marketing in the world to attract sales....but eventually those marketing men will have to say what product are we selling ?

The product needs a good development engineer to make it work - he needs to know the nuts and bolts of the industry to make the product saleable - robust and what the buying public want...

Currently we don't have the engineer we need we have an admin' clerk following company policy while the product development suffers. Sorry about the analogy.
