Myself and current banters have expressed many opinions about the running of the club on and off the pitch
here are mine
tony stewart bought the club and saved the club fair point but like i have said before he saw an opportunity and took it so far we had back to promotions and 3 seasons in championship lets hope we dont get back to back relegations
he controls the club and keeps giving media quotes about the club but doesnt seem to back them up recently.
so tony if you are serious about the club not just the facilities time for walking the walk in january
paul warne
cheap option and learning on job but to do this you need an experienced mentor
barker has been a manager but not a successful one
All I want is honesty from the top. If we're skint, tell us we're skint, we're grown up enough to handle it. Enough of the bullshyne about top 5 budgets etc.
And the clubs skint because money has been chucked around like a man with no arms on paying off rubbish managers, and rubbish players contracts. They should be getting rid of rubbish staff who waste money by chucking it around like confetti. Beggers belief
Disagree with 'Calypso' because those "rubbish managers and players" did not have time or the budget to be effective. Two very well respected coaches dismissed after been promised 3 year projects. They didn't have a championship budget at all and players already at the club were high earning but past their sell by date.
Since these days of "hope" the chairman has shut shop.
1...He couldn't afford it
2...He didn't like to watch the "park the bus" tactics for our small club to survive.
I think after KJ ran he changed policy completely.
He made PW manager and accepted relegation.
He reduced the budget again to balance the books and will accept a league one survival season under Warne. Playing the muck & nettles football the Rotherham fans like.
Can't see any other ambition other than league one midtable under yes man Warne.
With KJ there was NR & AS that all complained of misgivings within the club - that was principally the budget and football knowledge of what is required to prosper.
However - all those that knock TS should realise that he understood the club's limitations and that the club realistically belongs in league one. And he has to be congratulated - he was and is dead right.
1. Ever since SE appointment, and this just wasn't him, but the whole ethos of the board to coincide the new ground effect with getting to be a championship club, decisions made were all short termist, expensive and had longer term ramifications
2. No policy of bringing through at least 1 youth player that could break from the resrves to the sub bench per season, then said player becoming a regular feature after 2 seasons. This lack of progression and ignorance is frightening at a club our size
3. Deals that were done, the mistakes made in them, nobody is accountable. In fact it's the club that is accountable as the cost in losses of those are turned to loans to the Chairman's company? I will give him his due, a significant proportion of losses is though offset with way OTT advertising revenue from ASD.
4. The business model to fund Championship longevity was based on turning the NY and G&C site into some kind of entertainment / retail hub, while makes sense seems to have derailed badly. I cannot even remember the last time something was mentioned with this on how this plan is progressing.
5. We are currently operating on double what really all I remember our season ticket figures to be. We all know this means zilch in todays football climate where TV money / commercial revenue is the be all and end all. Basically if you're not in the Championship - you're a nobody.
6. The club have got to stop the silly statements of top 5 budget, PL in 5 years and other such ill thought out press releases. What they have got to do is come out and be more transparent and give more a dose of reality. The Rotherham folk aren't muppets - we will support in whatever capacity, even when we know we're up against it - in fact I think that's when our great fans are at our best. What we won't support is when we think we're being duped - and that is what is happening right now.
" Basically if you're not in the Championship - you're a nobody."
That struck a note! The money and therefore the players that have ac***ulated in the championship have made it THE place to be but since the start of our SE "project" it changed significantly. It is now just too expensive for a club our size to compete - with mediocre players being costly and building a team of championship standard impossible.
That is the lesson TS learned from NR - AS -KJ.
They were all from clubs that have been there and done it - survived and prospered in the highest league we have. I think they all sang from the same hymn sheet and educated informed TS that his asperations were not feasible with the budget allocate. NW no doubt said the same so TS changed his business plan and made PW his yes man manager and accepted relegation to build a club in league one.
That is business sense as chasing the championship would bankrupt our club - I think it's as simple as that.
That's why all the managers that were berated as "rubbish" were badly treated and didn't deserve the bad press - because they all we're doing their best - with the meagre budgets they were given - even NW walked away because he knew all too well that we were a league one outfit and he wanted better.

We will not go anywhere until we get someone in, who has a proper understanding, how a football club is run. The fact that Paul Douglas has outstayed so many managers and also been here longer than the chairman is probably why we have not progressed. We need to bring in some one who can change the structure of this club but the chairman is the only one who can make this happen. He may find himself in the comfort zone employing somebody who will not contest anything he says.A club with no ambition from the top will stagnate. It's down to you TS.
I hate the Huddersfield comparison. It isn't like for like. While yes I said about season ticket holders etc their catchment is way bigger and less competitive than ours, also historically they've been above us for largely most parts of the football pyramid.
They 'took a chance' with Wagner but obviously did their due dilligance - the players they also recruited the same, Van La Para and Mooy are just 2. Those players can't have been on much more than Blackstock - that tells you everything you need to know about our still not fit for purpose recruitment policy. I don't think its any coincidence they're more than holding their own in the PL, and fair play to them.
Rotherham United does not equal Huddersfield Town, in any comparison and quite frankly an insult to anyone's football intelligence who's expected to swallow it.

totally agree on this what we want is a total reality check
"Rotherham United does not equal Huddersfield Town, in any comparison and quite frankly an insult to anyone's football intelligence who's expected to swallow it. "
Love to know how Terriers have done it on a much published budget similar to ours .
I think the short answer is that they probably haven't. The team they assembled in League 1 had a number of million pound plus signings in it. Nahki Wells alone for example cost them a reported £1.6m. That is three times our record outlay. Some of their other signings were reported as bring for 'undisclosed fees reported to be over £1m'. I can't believe the wage bill wasn't commensurate. They probably punched above their weight and fair play to them. Perhaps there was a stat which when taken in isolation made us look similar on one level, but I agree that overall the comparison of us to them was always a bit spurious.
Not only was their wage bill and cost of players far greater than ours - and by far as far as I'm concerned. BUT and it's a big BUT - our players that NW left us were :
1...On decent wages.
2... NOT fit for purpose.
Whereas Huddersfield players were "championship" players and ours were has beens.
The "adiquate" budget was also woeful compared to Huddersfield.
And due to NW messing us about and our chief scout going AWOL made our shopping late for bargains.
