We couldn't tame Shrewsbury last Saturday nor can we beat Wigan next weekend if the management and players don't step up to the plate, pull up their socks up and begin playing the ball to feet. Route One football will see us playing in League Two next season make no mistake about that.
The result of this game can go any which way. I'm going for a 3-1 defeat for the Millers. Controversial maybe. Realistic definitely.
For any interested parties, my neck is still aching after last Saturday's encounter with The Shrews. Too many up and under balls for my liking. And no, I will not be wearing a neck brace at the NYS. In fact I may walk out again well before full time if there is a continuation of the long ball up and under shenanigans. This is supposed to be football not rugby.
Don't mean to be picky Wotisname but we've got Bristol Rovers this weekend but it's an easy error to make because I thought we'd got Wigan too! I honestly cannot see where the next point is coming from and this Saturday will be tough, their Gaffer Darrell Clarke seems a switched on cookie at this level and my fear is he will have too much tactically for Warne, we really need to be looking at this type of manager for the future someone young enough but at the same time good experience the Exeter manager springs to mind too. Don't get me wrong I don't want to wish Warney out of a job but we really need some results sooner or later the away form was crap prior to this run anyway. Clarke has done a great job on am betting lesser resources than Warne, he's a Mansfield lad too so possibly a future candidate for us?
You're going to be very disappointed if you travel to Bristol this weekend to watch the Millers! Not because of the result but because they don't play Rovers until the following weekend. By that stage we'll have beaten Wigan and everyone will be telling us how good Warne is!
Hopefully we have spent this week in training re-familiarising the players with the football and perhaps showing re-runs of the first few home games. With a bit of luck we will not be so in awe of the mighty Latics that we are afraid to try and play against them.
I'm not (ever) as optimistic as Glenn, but the fact that Wigan had a game last night and we have had a clear week might boost our chances.
Wigan have an advantage over us. They have got game time under their belts. They play as a team and know how to find the back of the net. The game is up for us. We have been sussed out. The long ball loses games. I hope that I am proved incorrect in my assessment.
If Warne swallows his Pride and returns to attacking football on the ground, replaces Mattock with Purrington - then 2-1 Millers.
But I'm not sure he sees what we see (seems a common problen with all managers we've had in last 2 season except Warnock) , and therefore, playing hoof ball... my prediction is 0-3, sadly

I hope I'm wrong though.
I have to agree with you, David
My take on the matter is that too much route one football is a sure fire recipe for league two football next season also.

Dont hold yer breath
From Warne:
"We don't want to change everything we're doing because I don't think we're too far away,"
I don't take any pleasure from predicting a loss today. However, there is an elephant in the room. There is something radically wrong with the whole set up. Can TS see it? Or, is he just ignoring it?

Well put it this way I for one am not expecting a massive cash injection to rectify the situation. Don't forget half a season without the clubs leading goal scorer and I for one don't think he will be replaced, the joint worst defence in the division, we are on an express elevator to a relegation battle

I too had a gut feeling we would lose 3-1 today so elected to save my money and not bother paying to be disappointed. As for the elephant in the room, maybe TS can't see it because he's part of it. In my opinion.
