I agree about Emmanuel, Ipswich can have him back tomorrow but our CB's are nowhere near good enough to play in a 3-5-2 formation plus I'm not sure our R & L midfielders would track back enough. I'd go 442 like this O'Donnell (last chance) ***mings Ihewke Wood Mattock Taylor Potter
Sounds like Frecks won't play. O'Donnell got to be. Can't go with Price. Right back I'm undecided. ***mings not convinced so Emmanuel gets the nod. Ihiewke & Ajayi centre backs. Hinds left back. Taylor Vaulks Potter Wiles Williams across the middle. Moore upfront. JCH 1st change striker.
Its not Warne's style at all, but i do think its a bit of a mind game with Frecks, i think he will be fit and will start, he will make a big difference to our midfield, id like to see taylor start in front of forde as well, 2-0 millers 👍 (i hope)
Odd that David Ball didn't play at Bradford. Not sure what if anything to read into that.
Perhaps he should, but he won't play Hinds. He'll go with ***mings and Emmanuel at full backs. He would even play Vaulks at right back and ***mings or Emmanuel on the left before giving the young kid a run out.
What has Ball done to warrant a place ?. Granted Warne's new tactics of hoof ball don't play to his alleged strengths Ball is short and slow and somewhat disinterested. I think we have been rumbled but tomorrow I'd go with :-
I sort of agree with you Splinter but would put it differently. There is no point in picking Ball if you aren't going to play to his strengths. Smashing it over his head or asking him to partner Moore and latch on to flicks or knock downs - might as well pick Yates instead because that is more his game. Or give Taylor a go up there with Moore. Nothing wrong with going long if you have the players to do it and know that is what you are going to do. Play it to Ball's feet in the nice little pockets of space he is good at finding and he is a good player. I don't think he is disinterested - probably more like frustrated. Good as he has been (and it isn't his fault) when you have someone as good in the air as Moore is it is tempting to keep knocking it long. I think we have fallen into that trap more and more as the season has gone on and fallen between two stools. The team has been set up in a formation to play a passing game with one up front or one just behind Moore, but in reality have gone too long too early too often.
No more Odonnell please it it is fairly obvious he is a source of unreliability, Price is better at stopping the ball going in our net, but has a a few problems with kckng etc, but is more solid.
