Kieffer On His Way

Looks like Mick McCarthy is almost certainly going to take Moore back in the January transfer window. Either that, or he's prodding Rotherham to make a substantial bid in order to keep him. Paul Warne reported a couple of months ago that he had got strikers lined up if and when Moore returned to Ipswich. Let's hope the business can be done swiftly so that we're not left depending on JCH to fill Moore's boots for weeks.

I think TS has to, at the very least, make a substantial offer to Ipswich, even if it's rejected. To not do so would signal a distinct lack of ambition.

After a good start Ipswich are struggling for points and goals while Moore is scoring for fun. Although their fans don't seem to rate Moore at all they are bound to be wondering whether he maybe deserves another crack with them.

Like Dicko before him, Moore has done far too well on loan with us and we are probably on the way to being priced us out of the market even if they do sell.

The thing I like most about Moore is his attitude. We ask him to lead the line on his own for 80 or 90 minutes once sometimes twice a week and he gets a kicking doing it but battles on and keeps delivering.

We really need JCH to share the load a bit but Warne seems to have no faith in him. It became pretty clear early on that JCH was very much third choice behind Proctor and Moore as a target man and even now as second choice he is bit part only. I really wonder why we didn't move him on. If we haven't got enough confidence in him to give him game time he may as well be playing for someone who will.

Lots of work to do in the January market.

The loan has worked out better than expected for all concerned.
We gained a goal scorer, Kieffer re-gained his form for all to notice and Ipswich got a player up to speed to either use for themselves or, sell on for a substantial profit.

It could have gone the other way, no goals, no hope, no future?

There are some on the Mad site saying we should tell Mick McCarthy where to go etc etc but what don't they get about the loan system? You get to borrow someone else's player on the cheap for a while. You get the short term boost if he does well and the parent club gets a player who gets experience and stays match fit. After the blow with Proctor and with the lack of faith in JCH, Moore's form has been a godsend. Thanks to Ipswich for letting us borrow him, and fair enough that they tell us in advance they will be asking for him back so we can (hopefully) line up a replacement.

I'm still hanging on to the hope that Moore will be a Millers' player after January - either loan or permanent. I think MM might be playing a few smart games at the moment trying to drum up inflated interest in Moore and giving his own forwards a kick in the ass. It's not over till it's over.

Onwards and upwards.

Well lets see if Big Mick lets him play for us in the FA Cup - if he does thats maybe a little sign of things to come maybe?
