Frustrating. It sounded on the radio like a game we should have got something from. We are still a bit fragile and for some reason we seem to be a lot more conservative away from home. King Ronnie urged at the start that we should get on the front foot, but whether deliberately or subconsciously we seem away from home to keep it low risk and stay in games rather than take the game to what are often pretty mediocre teams.
It is still a fact that 100% of games we score first in we win, and 100% of games we concede first in we lose. It would have been great to get a comeback point at least.
Anyway, taking positives almost every other game in the division was a draw so not a lot of ground lost. Still fourth for now (a few just behind us have a game or two in hand), and winning more than we lose. We are definitely still a work in progress, and we did have almost an entire midfield out injured who will hopefully come back in and freshen us up for a difficult game at Oxford on Saturday.
It has got to be in PW & the players mindsets. Is it difficult to motivate themselves when they are playing at smaller grounds? (god help us at Crewe then). The real frustration is that the players have shown in numerous games at NYS this season what we are capable of. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!
I did not go but listened on the I-Player. It sounded like a poor first half but after the break, I thought there would only be one winner as we seemed to be pressing them back. It sounded like Forde had a good game, the only 'silver lining' as Smiler said, no one in the top 10 (apart from Shrewsbury) won.
We seem to struggle with midweek games at the moment add to that it was an away game and a defeat was on the cards. Our home form will get us to midtable but the failure to address the same issues will keep us there, and to be honest that s no bad thing.
Without Potter in front of the back 4 we do not stop runners with the ball
Without frecks we have no leader on the pitch
we still allow for to many crosses from the left, mattock needs to get closer to his man
Vaulks is no defensive midfielder
mentally we are not right with away games
We play nice football and at home it is enjoyable, last night was no shock
We are still far too fragile at the back many on here see that and have said as much, Warne himself has eluded to the same. It's alright Moore doing what he does (until Jan) but we really, really need to book up in defence. Still 4th is way above what I expected. Hope our home form can keep us away from trouble.
