It's been said on several threads, but this is hurting us too many times - either central defenders or tactics or both need sorting - we are conceding far too many goals from corners and crosses, needs sorting.....

Getting a bit joke worthy now isn't it, watching yet again someone letting an attacker run in front and prodding in an easy goal - be interesting to see a stat of the %age of how many goals we've conceded like this - and I bet it isn't pretty.

It's not that the players don't know this, even 10 year olds at grass roots know this, it's purely a complete lack of concentration from different individuals.

zonal marking, we are like Liverpool we won't learn and continue with a system that isn't working, drastic changes at the back required but little we can do until Jan, but we need a quality striker to replace Moore when he goes back and a defender with experience and still enough legs

We are a physically big side and should be able to cope. It is a lack of communication and alertness that is costing us.

I would hope that this would be a focus on the training ground and am sure it will be, since it is plain to see that it is a problem.

Never understood the craze with zonal marking, it seemed to come in with the foreign coach invasion. English clubs cannot do a lot of things the foreign clubs/players seem to be able to but one of the things we were always good at was basic defending in other words mark your man (even this seems to be now more about pulling/shoving your opponent), stick a man on either post and Bobs your uncle.

I confess I don't even know what zonal marking is I think it means you mark a specific area but if one of the opposition gets a run on you you are knackered. This is basic stuff and we would be able to sort it, if not a safe 9/10th placing will become lower mid table

totally agree warne keeps mentioning but to date nothing seems to be done about it

we need ***mings at right back
and defensive coach asap

whats grey doing these days

We need players on the posts for starters, then a player on the back post at 6 yards and front post at 6 yards - then man-marking for corners.
