This was the lad we were trying to sign 2 years ago from Ross county and he ended up at burton albion. Paul Douglas was trying to get him on the cheap for £90,000 and Burton came in and paid the £250,000 asking price. Another one we could have made a tidy profit from,Remeber the young and re-sale value players we were after. Turned out to be a top player too. __________________

It was never going to happen with us, and probably will never happen with us despite all the sound bites. Barnsley was mentioned a fair bit last season on this very subject and put forwards as a recruitment/financial model to emulate. Ok you may win some you may lose some, it all depends on the a***en of the recruiting staff to begin with and the competence of the coaching staff thereafter. They (Barnsley) quietly get on with it, we blow hot air about getting youngsters on loan from other clubs. On the face of it, on these and other issues regarding the running of a modern 21century football club, we're apparently still in the 1970's
