Will we sign anybody for the window closes???

Keep on seeing pictures on Twitter of the guy from Brentford who we had on trial here, but nothing else.

Will there be a late push to bring another striker in before it closes or will we let JCH and Ball be the ones to help Moore out up front.

I don't know what to believe anymore. Will it be a case of we nearly signed such and such a player or will it be we've got our man who we then use to fill the bench? My mind is boggled but I will not be surprised about anything that comes our way.

spending £75K on a player so far means to  me top 5 budget to be relegated

TONY THE GOOD WILL YOU EARNED IN SAVING US AND GIVING US A NEW HOME IS RUNNING OUT PLEASE GET THE MONEY SPENT

I think that sums up what I think and I suspect what a lot of people think.

Sometimes there is a vocal minority of malcontents, but I honestly think that despite what TS and the local media (singing his tune) might think and say the truth is that the big majority of supporters at RUFC didn't think that PW was the right appointment.  Liking him and wanting him to do well once given the job is not the same thing as support for the appointment.

We were told last year that there was £1m plus available to spend on the right player.  It never happened.  We only spent £300k and it was on a left back who can't now get a game ahead of Joe Mattock.  We turned down the Ward money in January because we didn't need to sell him for financial reasons.  We have since got a decent fee in.  We have offloaded some of the bigger earners but have only spent £75k in transfer fees.  The other people players in are generally speaking young players, in some cases loanees, none of who will have broken the bank.  Maybe David Ball commanded a signing on fee and a competitive salary but not the others.  I hope not anyway.

TS needs to explain what he means by 'budget', because to me and I suspect to most it isn't stacking up.  What we see with our own eyes does not match the rhetoric from the top.  He has (again) built up expectations and (again) we seem to be struggling to live up to them.

There is still some goodwill there but it is not a bottomless pit.

The deal is wrapped up for the young centre half from Brentford.
Permanent deal Onariese or something like that is his name.

Good god! Only league experience is 22 games for Cheltenham last season in the lower reaches of L2.
Top 5 budget???? Really Tony?
We get a goalie & a centre half who have hardly played League football & GlennMiller wants us to get off Warne(s) back & support the "lads"? Lads is right but we need MEN.
PS; Can anyone remember when we weren't in a relegation fight?

quote from warne

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne says he is hopeful of getting someone through the door before the transfer windows shuts tonight.

Speaking to FREEVIEW earlier today Warney said, 'I imagine every club is chasing the same one or two players. At this stage, people aren't wanting to let their players go but we might let two go out and get one in.

'Prior to Procts' (Jamie Proctor) injury I think our squad was well balanced but we are attempting to strengthen up there now.

'I've been offered a few who I like but I don't think their characters are the best and I won't bring anyone to disrupt what I've got.

'There's one of our players who might leave but he will only go if someone where he's going goes elsewhere. As always I think it will all be a bit last minute dot com.

'We may get our target in before then but if we don't get anyone in then I'll accept that but we are trying the best we can.'

SO THAT IS A BIG EFFING NO!!!! FFS

'Well balanced squad'. Which does he mean? That we are as bad going forwards as we are at the back, or that we are as weak down the left as down the right?

I hope that comment from Warne is a smokescreen to hide three key deals that we ave up our sleeve - an experienced but not too old no nonsense defender who can head it, kick it and get us organised, some legs and power in central midfield and a forward who will be a threat in behind the back four. We need more than that actually, but they would at least make us competitive.

No_one apart from the two rookies who might turn into world beaters in the same way Jerry Yates might turn into the leagues top goalscorer. Depressing but never dull at NYS.

We've just signed midfielder/forward Richie Towell on loan from Brighton. He has an awesome goalscoring record in the League of Ireland. Can't wait to see him in action.

Totally underwhelming.

Lets be right, we have signed two kids who have limited experience on loan in League 2 and a midfielder on loan who has only ever played in the Scottish Championship (we know how good that is) and the League of Ireland.

No money found to replace our crocked £75K star striker.

We can only hope that those who think that we have been unlucky so far or happen to have already played the best three teams in League 1 and that everything will come good are right. Personally I think they are deluded but nobody will be more pleased than me if I am wrong.

Senior squad now:

GK: ODonnell, Rodak, Price, Bilboe
Defenders: Emannuel, ***mings, Ajayi, Oniarise, Wood, Ihiekwe, Mattock, Purrington
Midfielders: Forde, Taylor, Williams, Bray, Newell, Frecklington, Vaulks, Potter, Towell
Forwards: Moore, Proctor, Ball, Clarke-Harris, Yates

26 of them (but one out for the season).
Quantity over quality.
Lots of inexperienced defenders.
No pace at all up front and no goalscorer on the books. Proctor was a big player for us and hasn't been replaced. We desperately need Ball to turn up to the party.

I am now hoping that we can hang on in League 1 this season while some of our younger players improve. The younger players bought since Warne became boss and we had the recruitment guy in place haven't convinced yet. Purrington and Bray yet to show at all, Ajayi error prone.

I'm finding it hard to be optimistic.
