Jon Taylor.

The less he plays this year, the more chance we have of being successful.

Forde actually did very well on the left in the second half today. Tend to agree about Taylor not being good enough for the starting line up anyway.

Got to agree - think Williams a better bet. Taylor too greedy and no end product when he does pass

just watch the recording of yesterdays game. The amount of crosses he wasted was appalling....not only failing to beat the first man, but not getting above shin-height either.

Then when Williams came on and Moore, players with real creativity, they opened up Barnsley like a tin of beans.

Taylor is a non league player at his very best.

TTB has overstated it, but I do get frustrated by the lack of end product with Taylor and his tendency to run down dead ends. You can't ever fault his effort so he generally gets the backing of the supporters which is fair enough.
He deserves a decent go at it in League 1, where he seemed to do ok for Peterborough. If he is going to play then it has to be on the right hand side.

maybe taylor can be an impact player coming on and running at tired defences

so the other option is forde at right wing and bray or newell left
or does newell become the new freck

I think Williams is an option in the wide positions too Hillsborough.

Personally I would go with Newell on the left to give us that natural balance.  I think that is where he plays his best football.  And I would start with Williams on the right.  He looks a fair player to me.  Potter and Frecks central with Vaulks unlucky to miss out.

I think you might be right that Taylor might have most impact off the bench.

I am yet to be convinced that Forde has a lot to offer but both he and Taylor have performed ok in League 1 before so I am not giving up on either of them.

Jury still out on Bray.

Newell came on in the 70th minute when it was 1-0, ended up 4-0 and he got his 6th or 7th assist of the pre-season, not too shabby a return. I also liked Vaulks in the centre when he came on and Williams did well. In saying that, Forde is another player I also really like, and Frecks is Frecks (not sure why he disappeared at HT?).

Saturday's team is going to be quite interesting, the back four and keeper are virtually set (IMO), the only question is at left back, not a lot to choose between Mattock and Purrington.

The forward line for me is any two from Ball,  Proctor and Moore. Although it may be between Ball and Moore to join Proctor after his hat-trick? Ball and Proctor up front for me.

Mid-field is the most interesting. Like I mentioned earlier in the post, we have some cracking footballers in the middle, for me it would be Forde, Vaulks, Frecklington, Newell.

We will also have a very strong bench that can come on and change the game if needed, something we did not have last season.

One thing is for certain, the team Saturday will probably have no resemblance to the team we field around Christmas but, from what I have seen so far this pre-season, the above 4-4-2 formation with those players is where I would start (bear in mind, I'm just a fan with no idea what so-ever  biggrin).

I'm looking forward to Saturday for the first time, in a very long time!

I think same up top - Ball & Proctor to start with Moore as a major impact player for the last half hour. Can't see JCH getting much game time this year and it wouldn't be the biggest surprise if we was sent out.

Team selection. Midfield Potter will play. Vaulks or Frecks are attaching midfield players. Newell hope he's on the left. Hardly seen a cross from the left in the 2 H friendly's. On the right did Williams play himself into the starting 11? Going forward I'd say yes. Just when he's in his own half he gives the ball away. Forde safer option, stronger player than Taylor.
