Yep I agree re my post on Re sign or go. Its all very deja vu, saying one thing doing another, saying this will happen then nothing happens, apparently there was money to be spent on upgrade the training facilities, thus far, as far as I am told, there has been a new port-a-cabin delivered.

If we go into the season with the core of the side that got us twenty odd points last season but minus Danny Ward and Tom Adeyemi, we are going to be in real trouble again. If we are going to have a chance we have to do a lot of work, ship plenty out and recruit well, and do it all sooner rather than later. There were only a couple of players who started the Derby game who I'd be happy to see starting the first game in August. We shouldn't underestimate how tough League One might be.

July 2017. "The new recruitment software identified a number of targets in our price range and we made offers on them all. However, Athens United U14 coaches refused the bids citing that it was too far for their players to travel unaccompanied every week."

Michael Ihiekwe is our first summer signing from National League Tranmere Rovers. First choice centre back when Tranmere were relegated from the League in 2015/16. If this is where the summer signings are coming from, get ready for Forest Green coming our way very soon, hope I'm wrong though.

It really doesn't install much confidence does it Brad. Mind you, The great Gerry Forrest was signed from Northern League if I remember correctly. So fingers crossed, but finds like Gerry Forrest are like rocking horse poo and I wouldn't expect our current in'c'umbents to be astute enough to spot a gem like Gerry.

Michael Ihiekwe has been outstanding for Tranmere in the past six months-by a mile our best player. Truly gutted we have lost him but not unexpected in the least. He will do very well at Rotherham and will eventually progress higher than Division 1

Thanks wavy, we've tried youngsters from premiership with no talent, old players boosting their pensions and taking on injured players to pay them whilst they get fit then leave.... so happy to take on someone who might play for the shirt and actually be an asset.. sorry for your loss but hope we can look after him and he's as good as you say ... :)

Let’s give the guy a blooming chance before casting an opinion, I doubt anyone on this board has even seen him play? The positives are, if he is as good as I have read, he chose Rotherham over a number of other clubs, so, welcome Michael and good luck at RUFC.

Sorry for the positive post, I do understand that sentiment may put me into the 'happy clapper' category  winkbiggrin

we are all fans and we had the euphoria of getting to the championship and the depression of relegation.

warne wasn't my first choice but i am going to give him and the team a chance in league 1 with a the goal of been in the playoffs within two seasons is my personal minimum requirement.

I'm not getting too worried yet as I think with the FA cup and the play-offs the season hasn't ended yet. Most players are on holiday.

The real graft needs to be put in during June to recruit the best players for our budget.

I hope the new Tranmere guy Michael Ihiekwe is great, but I've read in so many places that he's a good youngster - he's 24 for cliff's sake. 34 is classed as old so what age are you when you move on from "youngster" to "experienced"?

Twenty four is young enough that he has time to learn and improve himself, especially as a defender.

Good luck to him and welcome.

No problem with signing players with talent from the lower leagues as long as we have a good mix of others.
