Re sign or go

Nothing much changes does it for instance:

“There were negotiations where they were never going to accept the first offer and we were probably not expecting them to.

Then why make the offer ?

“If we manage to get all three, we have done pretty well. If we don’t, so be it , and we will move on.

Fine, but where are the replacements. Last season we struggled to sign players yet they seem to to be very blasé about showing any kind of commitment to those we want to keep.

“They are entitled to speak to other clubs and see what is out there for them. No-one has an issue with that. If they decide to come back, then that is great, but we will need to give them a timespan to make a decision.”

We need to give them a time span? The whole point of the article is to emphasise that time is running out. Re-sign or off you go.

I was becoming resigned to Warne(s) reign in charge and starting to think a bit more positive for next season. But the continuing tosh coming out of the club is really beginning to 'P' me off. Nothing, absolutely nothing seems to have changed. no

I wouldn't have offered terms to any of them. I cant believe any Championship clubs will come in for any of them. Maybe our 'offers' are on much less wages than they were on before their last deals ran out? Anyway, happy to move on. We need a good clear out.

 My sentiments exactly smiler.

Yes we have offered much less than they were on in the Championship, why wouldn`t we. They need to make a decision by the end of this week and move on.

Smallwood on his way, can't say I'm bothered. Thing is it's potentially to Scunny which brings into question in my mind the much quoted top 5 budget 😒😒

We will never know what we offered him. Just because he goes somewhere else doesn't mean they have more money than us. Maybe they just rate him more highly (although he wasn't a regular in the S****horpe side during his loan spell), or maybe they are willing to offer a longer deal. In any case while Smallwood has his qualities and always gave 100% for which he will always have my respect at least, I would like to think we could replace him with a better quality central midfielder.

I would agree Smiler to some extent, but therein lies the rub with your last comment.. "I would like to think we could replace him with a better quality central midfielder."

Our recent past experience would indicate that replacing good with better is not something we are particularly good at. We have been great at spotting players, some as loanees, but we have been seemingly woeful at trying to keep them once they have shown their worth. On the contrary, on the face of it we seem to have gone out of our way to let our better players go, the Pringle fiasco being a case in point, (of course if a player wants out then thats that)

We need battlers who give 100%, which can make up for a lack of quality; and as gaz mentions the oft quoted top 5 budget I am becoming overwhelmed with my growing cynicism.

I await the new season in anticipation, hoping I am wrong!
