Pre Season - how would you start building new team if you were manager ??

Some assumptions: You have a small budget for buying in, and for the purposes of this bit of fun, assume you can persuade the players you want to join us, and you have control over who stays or goes from existing squad, so you can actually land the players you want and get rid of the current sh*te. So what would you do? My starting point, which I think is quite modest and not daft: Firstly – old boys back: 1) Get Skarz back at left back with Pringle in front of him, that’s the left hand side midfield and defence sorted. 2) Sign Alf, and get Ward’s contract sorted. Extend JCH’s contract for 2 years, put Yates out on loan to get playing time and hopefully improve him. Plus: 3) Buy or loan a new right back, sign two new central defenders, I don’t know who, but tried and tested older players, not untried youngsters or premiership rejects – solid league 1/2 defenders, plus two more loan defenders. 4) All remaining existing defence can be let go (those out of contract) or loaned out. 5) All other out of contract players can go too.

My logic is that we must sort out the defence, which has been our failing, we have a starting point.. We maybe have enough with these changes to create chances and score, that’s not really been our problem this season. Over to you guys….

As in life same with football move forward not back , look to lower league youngsters who want to play for their futures and don't look at the journey men who are only in for Money . Any of this shower from this season who are out of contract get shut don't deserve another chance . Play Purrington and Bray get them ready for next season , send Fisher anywhere that will have him on a free Yates is not going to make it may as well let him go now , cancel Frecks playing contract to many injuries, give him coaching contract find a decent club abroad where he can go and learn different ideas and methods , put him through his coaching badges and then we will have a man who will be ready to take our club on like Eddie Howe of Bournemouth as , what I'm suggesting is a complete rethink on how we operate .

Gotta side with Len here, wouldn't want any of those oldies listed and id bin pretty much the core of the current side. Agree with Len about Frecks and Fisher but would add Smallwood to the Fisher package (buy one get on free). Again agree on Yates and sorry but Warne(S) aint gonna give young boys a run this season or next because as said on another thread he belives todays side is his best :( :( :(
