We have to accept it now, we can't change it - PW is our 2017/18 manager.
So, let’s move on.
There is no room for saying we are unlucky, don't deserve to lose, feel gutted for the lads and so on and so on and so on like a broken record….
Paul my subtle advice is MAN UP!!!!
We cannot win ANYTHING until we replace the whole back 5, NONE of them are any good, I've named names before so I'm not going to go there again, suffice to say that ANYONE off the street could defend better than any of our current full backs, and you need to NEVER PLAY THEM IN LEAGUE 1.
Let ALL the players out of contract go and start by setting up a team that can keep clean sheets, until you learn how to create a team that can defend you are nothing, we are nothing.
Please learn quickly, take our advice and get a new defence, and keep at it until we can defend and keep clean sheets....
DO NOT keep saying the same thing about being unlucky, WE CANNOT DEFEND, so please MAN UP, SORT OUT OUR DEFENCE….
Its been apparent since the beginning of the season that the defence was not up to it; last season too, and it only improved when Warnock played Halford just in front, but the signs were there and ignored.
I regret we didn't keep Thorpe. I thought the lad showed promise, although we perhaps didn't see him at his best it seems he's done ok at Bolton. He would have been the young type of player we needed in my opinion instead of the old worn out clodhoppers. I think his contract finished this year but I wouldn't expect him to be too keen to stay.
But either way the defence has to be a priority. You can't lose if you don't concede, as they say.
Tom Thorpe has been used by Phil Parkinson mainly as a midfielder although as we all know he can play centre-back as well. Phil Parkinson wanted to sign Tom from us on a permanent deal for Bradford City. He obviously rates him hence why he took him to Bolton on a season long loan. Tom is out of contract and more than likely will sign for some other club. It beggars belief that he`s good enough for P.P. but deemed not good enough for us. Never really had his chance with us, made a mistake at QPR away, the one we lost 4-2, made a mistake at an home game when he should have put the ball into Row Z but all things considered he no worse than what we have.
Defensively we have been poor for at least 6 seasons, even going back to League 2 with Steve Evans. The difference then though was we were always capable of scoring more than the opposition. When we came out of League 1 into the Championship we expected to go straight back down. Last 3 seasons has been tough going and we were found out this season big style.
We don`t need a complete new defence. Semi Ajayi and Ben Purrington are signed on 3 year deals so won`t be going anywhere.
We need a Goalkeeper, Right-Back and a Centre-Back aged between 26-30 to play alongside Ajayi. Our midfield is as poor as they come, no-one to hold onto the ball and dictate play. Would love us to sign Adeyemi but I think that`s a non starter although I haven`t wrote that signing off just yet.
Keep JCH but the rest of the out of contract players can go look for another club.

Agreed. Frecks has one more season left on his contract but because of his recurrent injuries I can't see him playing more than a bit part. I'd love Adyemi to stay but in reality he'll go to a Championship club. Smallwood has run his race as far as RUFC is concerned & a change of environment would suit both parties, maybe to a club that could teach him how to pass the ball forwards. The rest of them.. Taylor, Forde, Vaulks(I know we're stuck with him), Allan ,Fisher, Newell, Ward, Mattock, Price, O'Donnell, Blackstock, Morris, Wilson, Dawson, Broadfoot, Wood, Ekstrand Kelly etc can go, non of them have even come close to deserving a contract regardless of perceived ability. Also, we've signed Bray....why? Warne(s) doesn't seem to want to play him/ JCH, Yates, Belaid & Camp (if we could persuade him) I'd keep. Yates has been a tad disappointing but in truth he's had no service & I'd like to see him playing up top with a striker who can hold the ball up ( like Revs/Agard). So.............a new team please Paul.

i think fisher newell taylor will be good in league 1
dawson hasnt been given a chance
yates needs a loan to a league 2 club for the season
but i do think its time for broadfoot woods kelly blackstock( who this player) to go
Fisher rubbish Taylor lots of work and endevour but no end product Newel biggest disappointment not improved since first day we signed him .
I agree about Fisher, I honestly think he hasn't got any ability to improve, I have played with MUCH better full backs in the Sunday league.
There wasn't much wrong in my opinion with Skarz at left back with Pringle in front of him - that was a good left hand side. On the right, Tavs was great, I didn't think Richardson did that bad, and Hunt was good. When we had these, it wasn't perfect but it was TONS better than the last two seasons.
I would encourage anyone who thinks ANY of our current full backs to be capable of defending to look at playbacks of this season.. time and time and time again the fullbacks are either out of position and wingers simply romp down the wing, or they chase the ball and track players rather than tackle. We have conceded tons of goals due to this issue, and it also pulls other players out of position trying to fix the holes left by absent or incapable full backs.
In my opinion Warne simply HAS to start by addressing the full back issue, and not with any of our current staff. I don't think he sees the issue, I don't think he will solve it, and I do think he'll continue to play Fisher.. all of which in my opinion means he won't actually solve the problem at all.. This one of the reasons I didn't want him as manager - I just hope someone in the club can start to see what we see, and do something about it.
Second issue to solve is centre defence, but I do think we have a few more options and what is needed is one decent ‘general’ type to take the centre back role, again – a new player needed.
i do think that fisher although some of the criticism is valid . he came into a poor side from a poor league yes he wasnt playing in that poor league either. but lets give him another season in league 1
i would like smallwood to stay as he is good defensively
i would use newell as frecks replacement possibly
bray or if we resign pringle on the left
taylor has come up short again t championship defences lets see what he can do in league 1 same goes for forde
up front jch needs to be kicked up the arse and could play well with ward if stays
yates needs loaning to league 2 as i have said before
we defo need a right winger and start firing crosses in to the box from both left and right
.... and PW's comments about 'only losing by the odd goal' or words to that effect...
Our goal Difference is -58
The next worst in our league is -19
The next worst in all 4 leagues is Orient with -34, bottom of league 2
If this doesn't make any sane man think about where the first issue needs sorting out is, or look at the quality of players we have responsible for this statistic, or the change of tactics he needs to start using - then I don't know what else to say...

lets put it another way if we get to september and we havent any games and shipped loads of goals then it will show because the team will be warne's after a pre season.
While I agree with Fisher, I think he's really poor standard - I think it's more than that.
How Rotherham United defend, and have defended all season is not how qualified coaches teach players how to defend individually, collectively, while organised or while unorganised, and the midfield is just as big as a culprit.
Too many players are reactive defensively. It is the role of a defensive player to take control of a situation despite the attacker having the ball, forcing them wide, holding them up, forcing the pass and god forbid actually winning the ball when there is backup around them to attempt to tackle. All too often, from too many individuals we jockey, watch and wait. No attempt is made to do any of the above, the attacker is always in control of the situation. This in my mind is bad coaching as there's no way they're all that inept collectively.
Tracking runners and defending space is down to the players mind set, collective organisation, communication and their ability. None of this can be controlled once they cross the white line. But there is absolutely no excuse for the previous paragraph. It honestly makes me cringe that I see better defending from 10 year olds than it does our professionals.

Well, I hope it gets sorted Exeter, why can't they see it? It's as if if no-one is capable at the club just now.
I think the stadium announcer should work on those shopping channels. This product is crap & hey we can throw in this which is also awesome knowing its crap. His raised voice and enthusiasm for such crap players is an utter joke - even the kids say - oh god such and such is coming on
In effect we have no squad that is worth the word. Possible latent talent in some quarters, but not being used effectively or has got the dolls on and won't play for being mardy at our expense. In short a whole new team required.
