'of course we never planned to be in the championship but by lots of luck there we were…'

Exactly ian, therein lay the rub.

Promotion into the Championship was not planned, but once there we're in it, up to our necks. In terms of players, we discover we can't afford the "quality over quantity" ….(Oh how that phrase has come to haunt us) , we can't even retain the services of young loan players; we can't afford the managers: we can't afford to upgrade the training facilities that are appropriate to a Championship club. The cost must be phenomenal to a club like ours. We all knew it from the start, and knew it was going to be tough, but being Rotherham we thought we would be making a fight of it, particularly after the fighting talk of the chairman If we were to go down, we would go down with heads held high. We all rallied to the call.

Non of of it, the record book speaks for itself. No General, no troops, no fight. Little more than a whimper.

So its not the relegation that is the problem for most. Its the record braking, humiliating manner in which it has been done, not withstanding the pre season rhetoric most of us swallowed after the 'Great escape' of last year. It feels more like a complete betrayal of trust.

Yes, and we all feel silly for not realising the depth of the issue.

The one thing , among the many excellent points you make Towdlad that sticks out for me is the issue about the training ground.

I think I believed we had a decent set up for sometime. I think indeed I was told it was decent by the club in some of the many interviews with people from the club. Then there was the talk about buying and building an even greater training facility. Really going places and investment visions sprang to mind.

Then Warncok...and Im sure I wasnt the only one to be confused...

One can point to the same rude awakening process with the lack of ability to even retain the development players as you mention...

oh dear!

Ian - shall we start a Man United Rotherham fans club?

deffo enough for a car load to make it economically viable

Ian I would never support another English team especially Manure, the millers are my team but I think if the local sunday league picked out 11 players to take us on they would easily win without breaking a sweat !!
