How much does RUFC pay the chairman, and other directors and non playing staff - that would be interesting to know. That's the trouble with accounts published at this level - the devil is in the detail and we don't have it. Fundamentally if we didn't have to rent the ground from ourselves we are only 300k down.

Sorry to resurrect this thread but I've only just caught up with it.

As Gaz points out, these are the accounts for the period covering the 2015 pre-season and 2015/16 season. They are the Steve Evans Legacy Accounts, in the sense that they will include the financial consequences of the business done by Steve Evans during the 15/16 pre-season that we were committed to at the point he left a few games into the season. In other words, they will include the cost (by way of wages, signing-on fees (which are commonly paid spread over the period of the players contract) and buying out of contracts) of players retained for 2015 and players added by Evans during the Summer of 2015.

In the Summer of 2015 the recruits included Kelle Roos, Lewis Buxton, Joe Mattock, Greg Halford, Tom Thorpe, Emmanuel Ledesma, Aidy White, Chris Maguire and Danny Collins. And Eric Black on the coaching staff.

Free agents are never free. Because there is no transfer fee payable to another club, the players demand and usually get a signing on fee and good wages. I suspect we would be alarmed at the amounts paid to some of those players to secure their services. We were paying Buxton for a while to not play weren't we for fear of triggering a second year on his deal? We released Maguire and White (and also Bowery) to lower league clubs during the course of the season, and probably had to buy them off to move them on to clubs who were likely paying them a bit less than we were. It was rumoured we were paying some of Roos's wages even after we sent him back to Derby. I don't know if that is true but he was certainly a disaster with us. Ledesma started I think three games that season. Collins was way past his best. Halford was quickly dropped and stripped of the captaincy by Evans, before turning up again for a few games after Warnock arrived.

These accounts will also probably include any pay off to Evans himself after his 'differences of opinion about the future direction of the club' surfaced, to Redfearn who couldn't turn it around, and the amount paid to Warnock for bailing us out.
