Can we have our football back!

English football hits supporters' pockets really hard these days. Look at the excesses in the Premier League alone.

There needs to be a real shake up in English football. There ought to be a cap on players' wages. A cap on transfer fees

and then a cap on admission fees.

If we were to start an online petition and get the required 100,000 signatures it would compel our MPs in  Parliament to

debate the matter. This is a serious issue which needs to be addressed. For many years some of those suits who run

football have not really challenged the festering carbuncle which needs treatment.

There are a lot of overrated and overpaid footballers who have forced clubs to increase the price of admission to lots of

games. Football agents are also in the mix. There ought to be a curb on their activities too.

I wonder if the local press, Rotherham Advertiser or Sheffield Star could run a piece on these issues?

The slogan should read....

We want our football back! Bring on the Football Revolution!

Sincerely

Not only that, but the spirit of the game has been lost too.

When you consider a GP is on around £130,000 a year and compare that to a Prem football player who is on more than that a week, often double that a week!!!!!!!!!!!! Just shows that priorities in society are all skewed and that there is plenty of money sloshing around but all going to the wrong places.

Fair and decent wages for football players and fair and decent wages for care workers and we want our football back!

The first step has been taken hopefully.

The government passed a vote of no confidence in the FA.

You are a very powerful lobbyist Wotsisname

You are correct, ian.

It happened four days ago and was not the main thrust of the OP.

It is affecting football supporters everywhere and it is they who need to become more proactive and lobby their own MPs.

Apparently very few MPs turned up for the actual vote. The will is there but the issue could be kicked into the long grass and forgotten about yet again.
I have been checking online petitions but have not found one which addresses this issue. Unless someone knows better.

'MPs have passed a motion of no confidence in the Football Association.
Sport minister Tracey Crouch opposed the motion but warned football's governing body that if they did not agree a series of reforms by April it would not receive government money.
She also threatened Government legislation against the FA.'

Hope that helps

Wotsisname.

I wait with bated breath, governments are good at threats but rarely make a drastic change, my interest in football these days seems to lie in the lower reaches. I cant abide Prem teams, its not healthy, same goes for the national side, it just rattles me.

Yes, there is a lot of sabre rattling by governments. However, there comes a time when it is vital  to address the issues. I too am not a supporter of the Premier teams. I still feel that football supporters need to push for the change which is badly needed.

Football seems to one of those last bastions of "Old School" the fans included, when they say well thats football innit ! I think yep it is, and by that comment its almost if change is unthinkable, ultimately greed has contributed to its own downfall, how a government takes on the very people who supports them ie Murdoch etc will be very interesting to see

The fight back, if thats a way of putting it, will have to be international. It would be no good us putting the brakes on without the other countries doing likewise otherwise there will be a player drain abroad and we'd be left with forth grade football
