"Jch looked decent at Oldham in league 1. Taylor and forde were the best two wingers a few seasons ago. Again in league 1. Smallwood was wanted by the iron for a league one push. Thorpe is a regular at Bolton who are in top 3 of league 1. Frecks.(when fit) ward and Newell are championship std. possibly add belaid to that group. Broadfoot, wood, ball fisher will all be solid in league 1. We have 3 keepers who wouldn't look out of place in a lower championship side"
Absolutley wet myself laughing. Of all the players named above, Frecklington (if he could stay fit) and Clarke Harris would be the only two to even get close to my match day squad. Broadfoot, Wood, Ball and Fisher my Arris !!
actually i think fisher ball belaid and purrington would be good shout for league 1
fisher confidence is really low and i think he can be a good player, same with ball
newell smallwood with taylor and smallwood in midfield
yates jch ward maybe up front could be good side
There's a very good reason why a number of the present squad will be ok in League 1, it's been apparent all season. It's because they have always been no better than League 1 players and in my opinion never will be.
The teams that will challenge for promotion to the Championship next season will all have a nucleus of players capable of making the step up. All of them with a manager capable of motivating players and a sound tactical knowledge, knowing how to set his team up for the challenge. Sadly that does not describe us at the moment.
We need a manager along with a root and branch shake up of the whole club.
Will we hold our own in League 1? Probably in midtable at best, lower reaches of the division at worst. Are we capable of challenging for promotion? Not a cat in hells chance with the current set up.
Am I being too pessimistic possibly, but unless things change drastically, I don't think so.
I respect your opinion towd codger but if this season's Morecambe & Oxford debacles indicate, I honestly think this seasons squad would be relegated from L1.
We need a more tactically astute , more experienced man as manager rather than Warnie who to me looks to be making it up as he goes along.
The upcoming summer is going to be the most important in the recent history of RUFC. We have to get it right.
