Sorry to bang on about it, but I think again the club have shot themselves in the foot again with poor communication.
I suspect that Brad's frustration is borne in part of the fact that we were not quite promised but led to believe that there would be younger, hungry players coming through the door on permanent signings. We have one of those - Purrington - in addition to two untried youngsters on loan from other Championship clubs where they can't get a game, and now Ekstrand with his recent history. Two of those three not currently fit to play. O'Donnell was a good signing. But not for the first time the club has hinted at one thing and delivered something different.
I think we are all realistic about the challenge of being in the Championship, and we are all grateful to be in existence at any level. I still pinch myself every time I walk up the steps to take my seat and turn round to see the stadium. I am one of those that enjoys seeing us play no matter what the result.
I just don't know why Tony Stewart - legend that he is - felt that he needed to talk up our chances of surging up the Championship towards the top league when we were just not equipped to do it (see Paul Douglas's comments about finance on the Joe Cawthorne thread). He built over-expectation into the picture and has torn up a succession of long term plans to chase a goal that was perhaps more illusion than reality.
Tony is a very successful businessman. He will know about business planning and the importance of having SMART objectives - Strategic, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-based. I don't know why that wouldn't apply to football as it does to any other business, and I think that in its eagerness to be seen to be trying to deliver what it thinks the supporters want, with hindsight the statements put out by the club haven't been particularly smart in any sense of the word.
yep i agree with the point that tony has made some ill timed and maybe over optimistic comments about premier league. Tony yes you have a dream , but the reality is if you dont the infrastructure and the finances it wont happen no matter what you think say or do.
my dream is to go to Yellowstone for my 50th our lass said no as too expensive and she wont fly that long so that's my dream shattered and in reality end up in Northumberland
my point is we all have dreams but they rarely come reality. i want our club to be successful and be in with a chance for ago at the promised land.
but it wont happen until the board get the sums and the infrastruture right and mostly deliver on the promises they make to fans players and managers
I get that smiler. We all know TS has possibly got his his ambitions mixed up with his abilities. However I am also sure that was perhaps caused by the guff AS fed him. When TS found him out he got rid. Ten it was already too late because AS wasted most of the budget. Enter KJ who fed the idea he was up for it and then bailed. Maybe TS gave a too rosy picture to KJ so KJ sussed it and bolted. Who knows. Mistakes have been made. Warne and the Recruitment guru did pretty ok under the cir***stances. And the players for the most part have been much better under Warnie's arm than with the 2 previous idiots. I just hope everyone can settle down and give Warne and the team some time and see what happens. If he does ok i hope he gets the job next season because at least we know he cares about the club more than the pay check. If not then we have time to sort a new manager later. At least he is trying to fill the gaps with players with ability and youth and desire. Nothing wrong with Semi the other night.
No point in all this slagging off the players and the club. We have also been shafted by greedy agents and clubs which has not helped at all. I just think things might be starting to look up and hopefully TS has learned a few valuable lessons Lets just take a few big breaths and chill out. Frustration feeds itself too easily if you let it
Good post from Smiler as usual and sickly is quite right too.
However, all that sickly says will only happen if those above actually learn their mistakes and rectify what has been an appalling final season of Championship football. A season that has seen abject failure from pre season onward. Failure after failure on and off the pitch compounded with a built in inability to recruit the type of players required to do the job required. An inability to recruit and retain a decent manger, the kind of manager we will need to put the wedge in and rebuild..
We knew it would be tough. We recognise our short comings and the difficulties we would face. Most of us knew we would at some point be dallying with relegation. We accept all that. We're all Millers and have to be realists. But we expect good governance and honesty from above and a gritty can do attitude to give it a go and if we are to go down, then we go down fighting. We've seen virtually nothing of that this season, just an embarrassing comedy of errors from the first kick off.
I share Brads misgivings for which he is being lambasted on this thread. But I would guess he would share my view that I see no reason why we could not become an established work-a- day Championship club with the odd good cup run; Barnsley have done it and other smaller clubs too, why not us? The board are going to have to get their game in order first.
Sorry to bang on about it, but I think again the club have shot themselves in the foot again with poor communication.

pretty much sums it up.
I dont mind people being upset and a good moan can be helpful. I know people have a right to their feelings but we apply this to everyone. so, moan away and moan away about the moaners moaning.
We have had a great time and still have a lovely set up. WE have all been able to see that "what might have been " and feel frustrated that the club seem to have managed an incredible slide in quality.
No idea what will happen next year at this point but id doesnt impact on my support as Im not in it to win it. Im mainly just happy being here...and moan and prasie regarding my prevailing mood
Thanks to those who defend my right to express my opinions how I choose & I make no apologies to those who are annoyed by me. I am well aware how I come across to people who are new to the board or indeed those who are familiar with my posts but that's me.
My main bugbear as regards RUFC is that up & down the country I see clubs, some very much smaller than us, some not even EFL clubs, that are run on a far more professional footing than RUFC, have better club/fan relationships etc & it is so frustrating as with a little work & one or two tweaks to certain staff at the club, we as Millers fans could have a better relationship with our club too.
Up & down the years we seem to miss opportunity after opportunity to make the club that is in all our blood grow through narrow minded short term club management.
WTF? No wonder players don't want to come here with f@cking idiots like you moaning gits slagging them off before they even get through the door. Get a life, grow up and stop moaning. Jesus wept. Give the guys a chance FFS. You don't deserve a team to follow.
With all the doom and gloom and thunderclouds floating over your heads every day you should start selling umbrellas to other whinging morons out the front of your house. You would probably make a fortune
'WTF? No wonder players don't want to come here.'
Here? Don't you mean there? You are supposed to be in Oz. Remember? Lolz
