If you don't get a manager in now then how can the squad be assessed and move forward next season. At least give our next manager a few months to look at the squad and decide where to strengthen. What's the point of appointing at the end of the season when the team are n their hols, at least give him a fighting chance.
We should look to maybe bring in a couple of prem players on loan until the end of the season - might just keep us up and would be worth the gamble, then sort it out early doors in the summer and do a proper preseason - not playing non descript Polish or Scottish teams.

Correct New Yorkshire. Why spend up to £2.5M on 2 players that may or may not keep us up. Spend the cash on wages of two quality players, then send all the loan players back at the end of the season.
More than likely Ward will gone in January so we can well afford more in wages for loan players. The big question will be what calibre of player would want to come to a club on a permanent deal especially as we will still be bottom of the pile.Loan market for me all the way.
No point bringing players in if they`re no better than what we`ve got here already. Leave it to JJ and then it`s up to T.S. whether he splashes the cash or sinks down to League 1 without a fight.
Tony Stewart wont give up Championship status that easily. He`s made some mistakes, now is the time to put them mistakes right.
Time will tell, just keep behind the club and see what happens towards the end of January. Next two games are must win one`s.
I don't know whether we will be able to attract a manager we would want in the predicament we are in. If we are going to then the new man will need to be in in time to do some business in January and will want some funds to do something.
Will we be able to or even be willing to sign players on more than season long deals on championship wages when we might have a league one budget next season? I would hope that our players on longer term contracts like Ball and Blackstock are on deals where their wages will adjust downwards if we are relegated, but which players worth having would be willing to sign that sort of deal in January with relegation looking odds on?
The inability to attract quality players might make it difficult to attract the right manager.
Some of our loanees just haven't contributed. Allan and Forster-Caskey have been huge disappointments. Fry has struggled a bit against physical, experienced strikers. I don't know if we are committed to them for the season. Can we send them back if we wanted to? Can anyone shed any light on that?
Thinking it through, I think I favour giving the job to Warney for the rest of the season, and trying to get in loanees (if we can) who might make a difference without committing to a long term wage bill that would kill us if we went If we do go down, start a rebuilding job on day one in the summer.
I think I favour bringing in a manager before spending anymore money on players. And I think this manager needs to come in before the end of the season. Its ok to bring players in before a permanent manager but given we know we need to appoint then it needs to be done asap. Waiting too long really cost us this season.
I know its not popular but we are relegated and thus the board should be knowing what is sustainable and what the goal is for next season. This goal should fit in with the strategy.
Of course, the right appointment is crucial and we will all have our reactions but it has to be done sooner rather than later. I think its revealing a soft underbelly in the boardroom that they cant make a decision. Waiting is a false economy . A decent decision maker really ought to know how to appoint from the field of applicants.

Would agree ian. I think it would be prudent to get someone in now. The new boss would be able to use the rest of the season to assess what he has and what he needs, starting in January to experiment a bit. His rebuilding can go on from there and throughout the summer to hit the ground running first game of the next season in L1
Towdlad my sentiments exactly, wouldn't it be great to start next season with a manager who knew his squad, knew what targets he wanted in the summer and had a solid preseason.
