Deep into injury time, Jon Taylor is scrapping like a terrier for the ball on the touchline in front of the West Stand. Taylor, desperate to atone for a shocking decision when minutes earlier with a glorious opportunity to square the ball, he chose inexplicably to shoot instead. With the chance to wrap up the points gone, Taylor was now fighting for the ball for all he was worth against a stronger man who was slowly getting the upper hand in the battle with Taylor. From out of nowhere the Rotherham skipper Lee Frecklingtom emerged and began ferociously challenging like Taylor. Eventually both Millers succeeded in kicking the ball into touch, using up precious seconds, to the raucous cheers of the West Stand, who celebrated conceding a throw in like a goal.
The psychology of this was enormous. It was a statement about Frecklington and how he protects supports and fights for his players. Frecklin ton also gave a statement to Jon Taylor. Yes you made a mistake earlier, but when I see you giving it your all to win possession, I or one of the other players will be there for you.
The moment wasn't lost on Warney. I think he will be showing that clip again and again to his squad.
Even misery guts me was absolutely delighted with that performance, a thoroughly deserved win. Belaid was a revelation, Frecks was just Frecks again, everyone put one hell of a shift in & if we go down showing fight & determination like that, I won't be too despondant.
Just how did Joe Newell miss that?????
Buzzing!!!!
Win loose or draw that is all we want, total commitment. The percentage win when frecks plays against when he doesn't is staggering. My Xmas party tonight. Is going to be sooooo much better.
Just shows what can be achieved with the right attitude, it can make up for a lot of deficiencies elsewhere. Glad to see Belaid given a sporting chance, now what about Thorpe? Never given a fair chance to prove himself, but doubt he will ever play for us again as I think his contracts ends at the end of this season.
best overall performance from Izzy. still lazy and naive at times but more than played his part and needs to repeat his running off the ball and he will be starting every week.
Hmmm, I wouldn't go overboard on Izzy just yet, yes he did OK and scored a good goal following a neat one-two with Ward but ..... he still shirks the odd tackle and doesn't do enough tracking back for me ... a luxury player in a relegation scrap is not what we need - jury still out at S8 towers. Another player who has come in for criticism from me is Fisher but the lad did good on Saturday, had a great game for me one of the best he's had in a Millers shirt.
Always been OK with Fisher but I can see what others worry about.
What about forde? I'll be honest I couldn't see him at this level but he seemed quick and strong and decisive and really confident
Yes agree about Forde. Looks a different player, where has he been all season? Or maybe it's the Frecks effect in midfield. He makes all the team seem a % point or two better.
