Like the rhetoric, but the club will need to sign some very spectacular / skilled players to rescue this season, to calm the fans down we need players in early doors, and a top class manager to suit.

I know all is not lost, but 14 points is a spectacular amount of points to rescue, 3 teams have to have massive meltdowns to even ensure we have a hope.

The stable door was  closed firmly several moons ago.

The horse that bolted from the stable was last seen on honeymoon in the Seychelles with the Unicorn it met in Tangiers.

The horse remains tight lipped about spending plans and is not talking to anyone including the press.

So, anything you hear about spending in January has not come from the horse's mouth.

It could just be homemade  pie in the sky.

very confused message if one thinks survival is realistic.

TS clearly says that there may or may not be a manager in situ by January.

That doesnt matter because the previous manager sorted out the gaps!!!

We are going to buy players who will be with us 2, 3 or 4 seasons-some mature quickly and some dont.

one has to conclude that the team running RUFC are still confused.

Without a manager at the helm all the above is fire fighting and very expensive.

I don't think survival is realistic any spending has to be looked at next years promotion push.

We could still have a champ team though - look at Newcastle this year - kept good players - practically guaranteed to go back up. I don't think we should buy L1 players as if we truly do want to return to the championship then we'd have to rebuild again.

I would tend to agree NY. I dont see the point in accepting relegation and then planning for lower league football. That can only mean........lower league football! Get players in who have got the capability to keep us up. If, as it seems, we're already doomed then those same players can be the core of a promotion challenging side.

We will go down with more money than we came up with( we've not spent any) so we should have a slight advantage going down. A few astute purchases and the roller coaster continues. Anyone who thinks we can compete in this division just take a look at Brighton they lost £26 million last season. We would not have a team with that amount of a loss and that's on top of the £10 million they lost the previous year. You can bet with their push this year that figure will rise.

The thing with this division is that a chunk of investment and luck gets you to the promised land, e.g. Bournemouth. Survived L2 drop with us but dumping some cash on players got them to the PL. Can't say I'm a fan of being in this position in in the champ its boring.
