They really have no choice but to watch that drivel until May, & now I have received by post an invitation to purchase a half season ticket with the hashtag #plentytobeproudof.
Erm???????????????????
Up until August I wholeheartedly agreed with the sentiment but in FOUR MONTHS since the encouraging first half performance v Wolves the meltdown at RUFC has been nothing short of astonishing, spectacularly inept performances by both playing AND coaching staff is jawdropping. I look now every game by predicting on RUST Prediction League how many we're gonna lose by & I find that desperate

I think the obvious signs we saw very early have turned to despair and are soon to turn to apathy.
You are rigth Brad, the decline has been quite spectacular. The fans sang that Alan stubbs had ripped the heart from the club and to some extent this is correct. However, I think there was a sea change in the atmosphere , philosophy and trading power of the club when SE went. Its plainly obvious I feel. Whether this was partly financial or simply TS having his head filled with notions of producing a quality footballing side on a shoestring I dont know.
There has been some resurgence in the idea of what kind of club RUFC are. The kind of club we are is a club who cannot compete at this level unless there is significantly more investment. Thats the bottom line. Whether its a quality manager, training facilities, fitness team, and players, money will talk.
Its not the whole story though.
Today I saw a few players who simply did not have the focus and commitment. There are too many players at RUFC who dont want to be here. They havent bought into the team or "town" and they are physically and mentally somewhere else. Clearly this is a product of significant failure from the set up behind the dugout.
Sooner or later the fan base (at least the knuckle draggers amongst them) are going to (unfairly) turn on TS, but unless Tony actually accepts that he has made some catastrophic mistakes or/and been badly advised & takes drastic action, the freefall will continue until next season & beyond, the fans WILL vote with their feet & todays 4400 gate at Burton will be a commonplace one at NYS.
Drop the old pals act Tony & get rid of some of your totally inept backroom staff that have let you down spectacularly badly & then hidden behind you, Everyone knows who they are so I'm not naming names.
I don't know who they are, in fact Job titles aside I don't know who actually does what. Is it the manager who says we need a new left back or is it the selection team ( who are they) after that do we have a portfolio of left backs or do we start to look from the request. Does TS then say you can spend 100k on one or is there a season budget of 800k and he can spend anything up to that but when it's gone it's gone. Does the same scenario apply to wages. If we end up with the wrong left back who do we blame, if it's the manager do we blame the current one the previous one or the one before who signed him (to play in a different style to the next two manages). Perhaps it's TS fault for picking managers with different styles. I'm sure there are several more cogs in the wheel, so who is to blame ? Who do we need to get rid of and what is their roll?
Their ROLES should be obvious Fliker, if you think about it, think suits full of ****** all & you won't be far away. If things don't change & change soon, they'll be more stewards than fans on the terraces.
I think the point is too many of them don't know their roll Brad. We need a steady plan obviously we are taking several steps backward but we need to stabilise get a clear and concise plan, get the staff in who can do their job and carry out the plan then and only then can we find success in the championship. As I was eluding to earlier we are buying players (well acquiring players) with no idea of a system we want to play. Manager after manager changes the system and several players just can't play or adapt to it. So they buy a few and so on. We have an assortment of players that don't fit together. Evans wasn't everyone's cup of tea but at least he got players playing one system, perhaps by signing so many he could find 12-13 to play his system, get everyone playing the same game and at least you have a chance.
Ita going to take 3 seasons to challenge in L1 if we make the right choices.
I dont think we will be in L1 3 seasons Ian. I think that given the massive reduction in funding from the Football League, we will go straight down to L2 and fester there for many a year
