The Star's website is down, folks, so here is what Tony Stewart has to say about Kenny Jackett resigning.
Rotherham United chairman Tony Stewart is adamant there was no behind-the-scenes fall-out in the build-up to Kenny Jackett’s shock resignation as Millers manager today.
Jackett has quit after just five games in charge of the Championship club who brought him in after the sacking of Alan Stubbs last month.
The 54-year-old presided over four defeats and leaves Rotherham 11 points adrift of safety at the foot of the table, but had been assured by Stewart that he was seen as their man for a long-term mission.
“I’m shocked, but life goes on. It happened on Saturday night (after a 2-1 home loss against Leeds United) when he said he thought he should resign,” Stewart told The Star.
“I said we’re in it for the long fix not the short fix and told him to sleep on it. Sunday morning came up and he said he felt the same and that was it.
“Nothing whatsoever had gone off behind the scenes. It was his decision. There was no aggro or fall-out.”
Stewart says he has already taken calls from candidates wanting the post.
“You just move on. I’m not one for moping,” he added. “ You get the shock, then you pick yourself up and say ‘right, let’s get on with it’. It’s all about what we can do, not what we can’t do.”
Fitness coach Paul Warne has been placed in charge of first-team affairs and will lead the side at Burton Albion on Saturday.
“We have to look to the next match, Warney will do a good job and we’ll carry on,” Stewart said. “We want someone now who will roll up their sleeves, get in the trenches and get battling.
“There’s a job to be done. We’ve got to try our level best to stay in this league. We need to be winning games.
“I said to Kenny two games ago: ‘If we lose the next seven, I’m not bothered because we want to get the procedures and the planning for the future right.’”
Jackett hasn’t replied to a message left by The Star inviting him to comment
Stewart said: “It was really unexpected. There was no row. He was here for only five games. We haven’t had time to exchange harsh words!”
Radio Sheffield's Rob Staton tweeted;
Hearing future budget was a reason behind Kenny Jackett's decision to resign. Existing squad expensive. Summer business costly.
Thank you Stubbs & your idiotic three year contracts.
Our football club is in serious trouble of the Blackpool & Pompey nature & SERIOUS questions must be asked of the Chairman.
Surely he was told that at his interview, there is sumat not reyt as they say. Has Jacket been poached, did he resign Saturday like TS has said. All will be revealed.
I think what Paul had reported is probably how it is.
KJ, notices that he can't keep us up. Looks at the budget, and he will know who and what he needs, and thinks there ain't a cat in hells chance. Damage limitation and exits.
I'm disappointed in KJ. You gotta be bigger than that and at least keep faith till the end of the season. However , if he thinks it to dire that he will hardly win another game as many of us do then it's not surprising. He should have been able to think this through however before he signed

I ask because we need two new fullbacks to replace Mattock, Fisher and Kelly, until we do that we haven't got a scooby of winning a game. I’d rather play a goalie as fullback.
I'd be tempted to keep Warni in charge until next season and get someone lined up to take over to get some players in as early as possible in the summer to start to build a team that can stay up in League 1.
This team would get relegated from the lowest Rotherham Sunday League.
how many times will fans blame the last manager & the one before him & the one before him before they see the problem at root. Its not he manager(s) its the man at the helm !!!
gazmadmiller, I'm sure most fans realise that now, as Tony seems to be in meltdown. Also, it is plainly obvious that the club is skint & we're all waiting for the inevitable but Mowbray???? jesus c Christ!!!!
Brad, put your CV in N ill be your assisstant, what worse could we do ?? We could even chip our wage in t get a 30 + year old wrestler in for a CF. **** thats already been done :) :) :)
well i for one won't blame TS we are still in a better position than we were when he took over - sure he has made bad decisions but it's easy to critisise with hindsight
until more is reviled i'll blame kenny jackett
i think taking the job KJ thought he could make a difference but after sat with odemwinge out for 3 match ban, camp and halford possibly out for a time too - coupled with the other injured lads which when he took the job may be he thought he'd have back sooner
but things have gone from bad to worse and he just couldn't take the pressure and jacked in
