OK, here's my take on our past, present and future position. Now a lot on here and many many more on the other channel will disagree, argue and abuse my opinion without concideration but hey this is what i think.
Tony Stewart did us a massive good favour when he bought the club and took us to DVS due to demands at Millmoore. He progressed the club culminating in a shiny new stadium and a feeling of hope from the Millers faithfull.
An immediate promotion from the basement to league one follows as we sign real quality at that level. This is followed by a quality season long display with a pretty competitive budget behind us in league one with the Millers winning promotion to the Championship. Tony is a God.
Now, it is at this point that our woes begin to build. We have been fed the tale, each season from that faitful day at Wembly to the late summer signing of Stubbs that we have a "Competitive Budget" in this division. This has never been true. We have cycled through managers, some signed shed loads and tried to sort the wheat from the chaff, some tried to use youth and a reputation of being able to bring forth said youth. Some had no idea of the position they were getting themselves into but they were all given said budget.
Sadley all were miss led. The problems with RUFC stem from the top down and i belive when, not if we are relegated Kenny Jacket will see this support as well. We will potentially loose ball park 11 Million so the "budget" will then fall resulting in what ? If we cant compete for players on this seasons budget what hope for next ?
No, its not just the fault of Evans, Redfern, Stubbs and at the current rate wont be long before the fans and Golden Suit are chasing after our new man. We need investment, not to be a competitive Championship side but to be able to hold our own in league 1.
Right ive had my say.....................Standing by for a right slagging
Don't buy that. Redfearn was never a manager. Evans start of last season terrible signings that's why he left. Stubbs are you telling me if Kenny Jackett had have had his budget from start of the season we'd be in the same position. Would we be paying Blackstock for 3 years a retirement wage. Answer please.
EVERY time (in my lifetime anyway) we have had short term success, after Wembley 96, under first Porterfield then Hughes, 80-83, under Ronnie 00-05, & now we never ever invest & grow the forward momentum. Unfortunately, whoever is in charge of RUFC at the time, be it Stewart, Pursehouse or Boothy has a small time, tinpot mentality & try & survive in the second tier by shopping out of the bargain bucket.

What dont you buy T71 ?? Redfern was given a budget of **** all as Evans had blown the lot trying to find a player for **** all. Evans probably left as he asked for a budget Tony could not sustain. Warnock didnt re-sign as Tony could not provide a competitive budget for this league dispite his public anouncements. Stubbs i feel was lulled/conned into a job he did not understand or have the backing to sustain.
So T71 what are you expecting of January ?? Kenny Jacket to pull off the miracle with the same budget as given to the previous managers ?
The man on the Gold Jacket is not the Messiah, the man has done wonders but is now out of his depth and needs investment or as has been said on previous posts we will not only be relegated from this league but league 1 as well !!

Brad yer not far off, they always, always look after them selves which i have no problem with thats buisness. However, promising the world to the fans ****es me right off. Tony dug us out the **** but he now needs outside investment to be even a league one contender

So Redfearn was a manager. Evans didn't leave he went before he was sacked. Stubbs read Redfearn.
It looks to be fairly obvious that each team performs according to its budget. That should not be a shock or surprise to anyone.
I think the issue here is that we need to be very fortunate in all our appointments to move forward in the championship and there isnt that much luck or talent around to make that happen. The best one can hope for is the out performance of the budget via a very strong team spirit but they take time to build-we seemed to want to dismantle ours far too quickly and cheaply.
Its not to difficult to predict the runners and riders in every division just like any other thing in life really. we support and enjoy our team nevertheless because achievement, enjoyment and belonging usually follows commitment.
we are stuck with RUFC Im afraid.

Gaz, the only bit I don't agree with is the part about our budget in league 1. I think it will be very competitive and as long as we've got the right manager, we will have a good season.
I also think that Jacket is the right man so I hope we stand by him if we get relegated.
Ian, commited as I am, as much as i have enjoyed our recent success ? I am ****ed off to the hilt with the bull **** comming down from above. Sorry mate but enough id ****in enough i want to see the finacial commitment the board keeps promising not empty excuses we keep seeing !! WE ARE NOT COMPETING ON A FINANCIAL LEVEL !!!

One, i agree Jacket is the right man but, we will be probably be 11 Mil down on this season with a squad that as Brad said wont be good enough. Sorry but ........
Yes, turnover will be down but it will be on a par with other league 1 clubs. The difference being, the chairman will provide a good playing budget as he did the last time we was in league 1.
I should imagine the players will have it in their contracts that their wages reduce should we get relegated.
Statistics state quite clearly that in every division there is a direct correlation between wages and performance. Put simply, that's because the best players command better wages. Not rocket science. There is about a 15 to 20 percent deviation.
Now just look at the average home attendance of every championship club bar maybe one or two and you see that their average is way above our capacity let alone attendance. The financial limits enforced by the FA and FL prevent us (rightly) from spending above our means. So in a nutshell mathematically we should finish second from bottom in the championship and get in the play offs in league 1.
Then you get referees. I am in no doubt whatsoever that referees favour the bigger club. That's why we get nowt in this league and got all the decisions in the lower leagues.
In a nutshell mathematically we are a yo yo club between the championship and league 1. We get forest reserves, bury get ours.
Then we appointed Stubbs. this allowed probability theory to flourish into virtual certainty.
