Did we perform well today because it was a high profile match in which the players needed to prove themselves? Or, has AS seen the light and realised that the only way Rotherham will survive is to defend by attacking? The proof will be over the next 5 games where we need to show some application and consistency in both tactics and performance. I do believe that this crop of players have a mid table finish in them if guided correctly. Standout performance today - Taylor - magnificent effort. Most pleasing - Ball and Fry at CBs - solid against class opposition. Most cringeworthy - AS half hearted applause towards the North Stand at the end. Make your mind up son - you're either with us or without us. I recommend the former! Overall, mysteriously content after a home defeat. Onwards and upwards!
F.f.a leave Stubbs alone it's the players go to watch , why is fans want applause from the manager god knows what will happen if he ever decides to sit in stands to watch a game . A.S is having to sort our problems from at least 3yrs which we all knew we're there ,so let's be patient and make his job a little easier by backing him and not slautering him at every opportunity .He must feel very lonely in dug out with his own supporters on his back . We all realise he's got a lot of work to do so let's keep behind him and not against him ,I've supported Millers best part of 60yrs and can tell you it canget a lot worse than it is ,
Consistency is the key, we thought we'd got a hell of a squad by the first 20 mins of the Wolves game. Once or twice this season we thought we'd turned the corner only to be brought back to reality with a bump. That said, I did sense a difference yesterday and I'm hopeful the squad is beginning to have some self belief. Fingers crossed that this really is the start.
The answer is that in the last two games we have played teams from the top of the table and had both of them hanging on and were very unforntunate to lose. The improvement is plain to see and yet we still deride the manager .
Kirky will turn the losses by 1 goal into draws and then wins. Provided we don't play West Brom in the cup, in which case he will get a 20 match ban for not using words on McClean but snapping him in two.
We performed well today because we were playing a side who came for the 3 points. When we play a team who play like a normal away team we will struggle once more.
Stubbs has got to play Newell for the full 90mins. That means that Brown & Blackstock cannot be on the pitch at the same time.
Ward gets in the team before Blackstock every time for me. Blackstock might be better at holding the ball up (is he????) but he won't give you the same work rate and he certainly won't win as many headers as Ward.
Ward has scored 5 goals in a struggling team and you want to drop him for a 30+ nearly has been?
Suppose we all have our opinion but I don't think Ward is going to keep a fit Blackstock out of the team - agreeing to come here would have involved promises of game time (and loads of cash).
Apart from Saturday I'd say Brown has been the best player.
