No complaints with that

Troubled the Toon in first 20 mins and that little frolick with 10 mins to go.  Lost to a good goal, but a good coach would be telling Fischer that Atsu will try and drag it on his left, was a good finish though.

Why Brown stayed on the pitch is beyond me though, he was utterly awful, why Newell can't play there I dunno.  It fell flat after 65 mins and needed something different

Didn't deserve to lose mind, and seems to be a bit more solidarity about us.  Carry on like that and can see some points coming our way.

By cir***stance but Halford was fantastic at RB, MOM for me.

Yep much better. We were the Better team i thought. Disagree about Brown though, thought he did well up top with Ward but wasnt effective out wide when Blackstock came on. Taylor mom for me .Lets see how we do at norwich, play like that stubbs stays , lose by 3 or 4 and i reckon he goes ..

Putting Brown on the left wing didn't work. He wasn't doing a great deal when in the middle so to take Newell off and leave Brown on was a poor decision.

I can only imagine Newell's fitness is still not up to it. However I'd still rather have a 75% fit Newell than Brown today, he just didn't have a good day

Effort was 100% chances were created chances were missed for a good 30 minutes in the first half we should have bin infront. Refree was a little on newcastles side with his 50/50 balls but we were coping. No complaints overall only I think Brown should have come off. Welldone lads unlucky not to get owt

Very pleased with today, but for the ref...... Fantastic goal, but had Newells short not been tipped over than that would have been a goal of equal quality in my view.

Feared the worst after about 60 mins when we sat back so much Newcastle had two thirds of the pitch to play in, plenty of time and space to tip tap the ball around, but I think the defence were much more together, Halford Ball and Fisher had good games. Much to be pleased about much much better

Yes much better today, agree about Brown - he is a luxury player. On his day he can do special things, today wasn't one of them and he should have been subbed for Blackstock at about the 60 minute mark. Ref was a big team charlie, could not believe some of the decisions he gave against us and the one he didn't give - the blatant foul on Frecks just before they scored - the ******!

Far far better, still no points but Christ did they put a shift in, the toon knew they were in a game. No central goalscoring striker is still gonna relegate us, as is having the scouse buffoon in charge.

One or two will be having humble pie for their tea after predicting a massive defeat for us today.

very good performance by RUFC.

cant fault anyone on or off the pitch today. Brown was tightly marked and out wide had his work cut out and didnt get the space he needs.

I notice stubbs remarked about his job being under threat.

Stick with it Tony , its getting better which is all we ask.

We all said after match , despite no points much better all round - defence looked a lot better with Halford at right back, 'd stick with that for now, maybe we will get Broadfoot fit by next game too.

... and we pressed them, and didn't sit as deep, not seen that since Wolves game.

'Stubbs out' definitely on hold and I hope he can indeed turn it around - not looking too much at Norwich game but at the next 4 or 5 after that and see where we go.

I also thought us fans noise and support deserved a mention from Stubbs, I know it's not his style - but I'm sure the players appreciated it anyway..

All right lads?

Just thought I'd pop back on and thank you and your club for the way it treated the travelling Newcastle fans. Tremendous stuff and I only hope you get a similar reception when you travel up to St James'.

On the game I have to say it was as tough as I feared. Your lads were really up for it and on another day the points could well have been shared. Rafa didn't underestimate you and picked a team that would be indefatigable at the back, relying on amoment of true quality to be the difference. As the man said, play like that and you'll be fine.

Good luck for the season, genuinely hope you stay up and before you visit the Cathedral on the hill in January, swing by www.toontastic.net and the lads there will happily give you ideas for the best places to stay, sink a beer or two and eat (Newcastle has become a really good place to eat these days, although there's still a Greggs on every corner ;) ).

Thanks again

The FIsh
