Green Shoots of Recovery

This will get me hammered I know but I do think that Huddersfield was the start of some kind of recovery. We set off in the usual clown capered inept way but worked our way back in and deserved a point. Adeyemi is starting to look fitter and hungrier for the ball and Blackstock will be the striker we need. Brown needs to keep busy and be less of a pushover and he will be the best player in this division. Frecklington isn't doing it at the moment but will get fitter and the centre halves look more capable once they settle into the game. I honestly don't think Newcastle will smash us to pieces and there's no reason we can't get a draw if we keep up the progression from last night. AS still isn't what we hoped for and his subs are way way too late - but I do like the idea of playing the ball on the ground - even if we aren't exactly gelling as a unit.

Time for a dose of realism. No way is this team even remotely good enough to compete in the Championship, regardless of coaching, repetition, playing the "Stubbs" way etc & these players unfortunately we are stuck with, at least until January, which makes the Head of Recruitment vacancy frankly laughable.
I don't like criticising TS but again unfortunately he is culpable for the situation the club is in right now. He really cannot pick a manager.
He got lucky with SE but his success coincided with TS providing a really good playing budget for L2 & L1. Scott, Redfearn & Stubbs have been a disaster, Warnock was a masterstroke but sadly, only a temporary one.
We ARE a L1 club who finds itself in the Championship, in outlook, attitudes, refusal to grow as a club, small club mentality etc. I do not blame Tony for this at all, the guy cannot do it by himself, the club needs heavy investment in order to grow (Shop units, Hotel, Stadium expansion, playing budget etc) but because of who & where we are geographically we're not going to get it despite TS's big talk, so sadly guys it's been a nice 3 year adventure but Vale, Gills etc here we come.

Im caught between brads critical realism and the notion of progress.

There has been no progress this year. Nothing empirical could be found to support that. Indeed , the Huddersfield result would be no basis to suggest any sort of improvement.

Off the field the revenue has certainly grown.

Have we reached the pinnacle of this upward curve?

I sort of agree with what you say Brad, but I can't help thinking back to when Gray took on the Owls job - they were a very poor side and he made them hard to beat. Sure, they are a much bigger club and had the 'big club' mentality to build on that, but it all started with Gray sorting out a bad team and he had tactical nous and an approach that worked.

Then we look at Warnock who did miracles with our poor performing team last year.

So, I'd say whilst we don't have the means to 'buy' success in this league, we could if we got the right manager make more of a fist of it, and with time build on it. I personally don’t think we have any future with Stubbs.

I agree also it would help if the stupid F**kers who won't give permission to develop Guest & Chrimes buildings had an ounce of common sense and allow TS to develop it

Brad you can wave the white flag after a few games but not me. I still think the team will improve and with broadfoot back a couple of winter signings we will see. I've been down in various sports over the years but once I've got my head around the situation, gritted my teeth and got on with it you never know where it will take you. A positive mind set is what's required, a few wins and away we go, even you may start to believe, come on Brad have a smile you never know😜

Nearly right - thought our young CB pair did excellent today - I don't want Kirk and Wood back in! Brown gone off the boil
