He was just a little late and of course the lad knew he was going to be so played for it.

Quite right ian, having had the benefit of watching the tackle (and he had to go for it otherwise he wouldnt have been doing his job) over a few times, I'd go so far as to say there was a bit of a dive there. but the ref didnt have the benefit of watching a replay. Actually, I would say I've seen refs blow for fouls for tackles like Frecklingtons tackle on their number 20 to win the ball for Taylors equaliser. Anyway its all in the game I expect, next stop Blackburn rovers
I think the ref might have blown for frecks tackle at another point in the game.
The crowd had really been on the refs back for what were some niggle 50/50 decisions that started to cost us. In any case, we startred supporting the team and the team got more ambitious and I think it translated to the ref in our favour.
He probably saw that tackle and thought it was close but considering the temperament of the game at the time he decided to let it go.
I can understand why he gave Fisher a second yellow. Whether or not he got a foot on the ball I don't know but it just didn't look very clever. There was an audible gasp round the ground straight away. I thought Fisher (who had a stormer in all other respects) was unlucky to get the first yellow when he did though. In the interests of balance, he got away with a couple of shall we say robust tackles in the first half. To be honest I think the ref was pretty much guessing throughout the game, and the longer the game went on the more he lost the plot as people became increasingly frustrated with him. There was a sense that he had lost control, which is the hallmark of bad refereeing.
Talking about audible gasps, I found it really amusing when the whole crowd could be heard saying " 7 minutes" (myself included), when the 4th official held up the electronic board.
