.... they played well following Stubby's instructions. That game was a like an attack v defence training session and it is clear that this is the way that Stubbs has instructed the team play - three home games, same pattern of play. Nick a goal and sit back inviting the away team on to us. To do that 86 minutes is shocking, football is an entertainment business, no wonder home fan numbers are down below 8,000 already. Can't say I blame them, watching that week in week out is soul destroying and I actually feel for the squad. But we are unbeaten at home and I suppose Stubbs will point that as an indicator that his 'system' is effective. That may be, but it is boring to watch and frustrating to drop points from leading positions.
If anybody would rather watch that than a SE team they want their heads examined. No structure, hoof tactics without the back-up of on rushing players. Hopeless and panicky defending and generally no confidence. Then AS (can't be long for the job) on the radio spouting the same cliches "clubs spent more than us" "hardest league" "did well to get a point" etc etc - all blah blah blah and boring. He's undermining confidence by stating we can't buy good players - and supposedly we could if we wanted but he didn't want the players that cost more money. Something isn't right here.
Its not the players that are being booed, its the way the manager instructs them to play and our reaction to the negative and lack of passion that they portray on his instruction.
He his a fish out of water and I do feel he will struggle going forward playing the formation his thinks is the correct way to go.
Supporters are already voting by not turning up. 8000 plus today. How many on Wednesday 7000? If we do not excite our fans they will not return.
Alan revisit the drawing board, attack is the best way to defend
We can go on and on about a 3 year contract and bedding in time but Im just going to compare what I ve seen against the data banks of the 4 decades I ve been watching football. I dont think I have seen such a naive tactical set up as the last few games.
Those of us old enough can cast our minds back over many managers. We know what they say, how they think and how they behave. We can even do that without attending games these days such is the glut of football, interviews, and analysis.
It only leads me to one conclusion and that is that we are in big trouble. Sacking him is not unfortunately helpful. When TS let so many get shipped out and warnock fart about for so long it put us on the back foot. we havenow been left with a team of stubbs, that I fear no one else can make a roll up from.
We had every cause to Boo and it was the correct reaction. Look at the match stats = home team have 23% possession!!!!!!.
As someone said that’s attack versus defence, and our defence is one from poundland... it’s not one built on multi millions. Whatever manager we have, and I suspect this one will be gone after Tuesday’s game, TS needs to accept it is the club’s lack of money at this level that is hurting us. We are the fans, we are the club and it’s hurting.
It simply isn’t enjoyable any more, that’s why I will not be renewing my season ticket – it's sort of cutting your nose off to spite your face because without funds it will get worse, but it is just too painful to watch….
When playing for RUFC if you give your all and that is 100% then we will support you. If you give your all and put your everything in to a game we will suport you. If you play and do not give a flying fudge about those fans who pay their hard earned money to support you then we will not support you.
You are paid to do a job and to do it to your best ability, even if your manager is not at present up to the task. Go into a game a prove us fans wrong. Play to win do not give in die for RUFC
