Free agents can still be brought in - no transfers or loans. However, how many times have we heard that a striker is imminent? I'll believe it when I see it and forgive me for lacking confidence!

Spoke to #rufc chairman Tony Stewart. Says strikers (plural) should be signed in next few days. Close to deals with free agents. #starlive

Let's see what materialises.

Advertiser reporting quote from Stewart

"TS: One Championship player agreed to come last night on loan...agent then wrecked everything by demanding a full 3 yr deal."

Yet again we fail to sign someone because we wont negotiate or pay the going rate.

For me its nothing to do with TS.

TS has supported every manager, and even offered up to 1.3m for a striker not too long back. TS said to me just a few weeks ago when I bumped in to him that he has only ever said "no" once, and that was to SE when we wanted to sign the no.10 from Norwich for longer.

The fact is this, TS will support any manager.

The blame lies with Mr. Stubbs. All the teams round us have made quality and astute signings. If he gets asked if we are linked with the same players, he says no; "its not a player we are looking at".

The fact is, Stubbs is looking at the wrong players (not including loans) for permanent signings. He has one eye on Scotland, with the other on League 1 players who able and capable of playing for a Championship team in the top end who would never join us.

 whats the point then?

do we expect to attract players on one year deals and if so wii they be any good.

its just more and more frustrating.

How are the fans supposed to make sense of any of this!
