Got me tickets for this one - I'm feeling good about our chances. Interesting that they have Hammil and White in their first team - players we outed pretty quickly. I'm going for a 2-1 away win!

I agree. Barnsley have made a decent start and good luck to them but I would take our players over theirs. We have nothing to fear. Play like we can and we will get the win.

The only thing I would say is that they appear to have gone for continuity, so they already have a settled side with a team spirit built over the past seasons, which is, as we all know, when taking on the big boys of the division, an added bonus.

We on the other hand have effectively rebuilt a team from scratch these last three seasons which has done little for getting players to 'gel', what with all the comings and goings, that is until the arrival of Warnock of course.

Having said that I have been impressed with the new boys and I'm hopeful we are seeing a new era for the club and confident Stubbs is engineering a solid core of players to take us forward. Quietly confident for next saturday then!

I still think we will get a "marquee" signing in the striker department (may also be wishful thinking) and this will take the pressure of DW who is our only option. The gelling point is a good one and the stray passes to no one highlights our lack of game time as a team. Still think we will have more going for us now IB has knows what's required at our level.

Hoping for a draw.

They have set off well and still clearly brimming with confidence. We are slowly improving.

As for a marquee striker I think that must be wishful thinking depending of course on ones definition of a tent

Feeling quite bullish now that Saturday is on the horizon. It's a bit disrespectful of Barnsley to think they are going to roll us over. They've got two points more than us after four games and shouldn't get too giddy. They are essentially the same side that finished sixth in league one last season. We are in our third consecutive season mixing it with the big lads. We have some real quality, and they have virtually nobody proven at this level. Nothing to fear.

Seem to recall we felt that way about MK Dons last season....... They went back down because they were not good enough, but not before we got a bloody nose. Think we should treat Barnsley with respect, and beat them with better football!

I agree we should respect them. They are obviously a decent side. But we need to go out there confident that we have the players to beat them and they should be more worried about us than us about them. Half the battle is in the mind.

Looking forward to this one, bizarrely 1st visit to Oakwell. I don't think we should get bullish about anything, this is simply a game with one of our mini league rivals who we need to be taking points from to survive. Obviously all the local folk will want bragging rights on Monday morning but I tell you one thing. It tells you how far we've come that many people see ourselves on a par / above Barnsley in the football pyramid. I don't, I don't bother with the my dad is bigger than your dad talk. Our focus should be on ourselves only, reaching our targets & objectives to stay in this league no matter who is up against us on the Saturday. And in that note - I'm going for a 1-1.

I agree. Historically they are a bigger club but we are doing well these last few years.

Football wise we have come a long way.

As before hoping for a draw

A lesson to us and clubs like us. How much have they made from selling Stones, Holgate and Mawson? About £16m? How much were we ever going to make signing half a dozen or more 30 odd year olds on one or maybe two year deals every summer just to hang on? Thank God we've moved on from those days.

You can only make money from players you own - we seem to be loaning the young 'uns which only increases their value for the parent club.

That's true in some cases NY but Vaulks, Taylor, Fisher, Ball and Forde are all 24 or under and signed to permanent deals. Add Newell, Danny Ward and possibly JCH if he ever begins to fulfill his potential and also Yates. It's a long time since we owned so many young first team players with potential to develop them and sell them on for proper money. Contrast with the signings in summer 15 of Buxton, Richardson (given another year), Halford, Collins, White, and later deals given to other older stagers (Camp, Kenny, Thomas, Best and others) to prop us up. I know I'm being a bit selective but there has been a definite shift in policy and for the better imo.
