Nice to get the win and the clean sheet was a welcome bonus after the last three games. But let's not kid ourselves, we rode our luck big time and Brentford were unlucky to lose the game. Still plenty for Stubbs to work on and we are desperate for a forward to help Danny Ward out. I did like the look of Brown and with a bit more luck the effort that the keeper tipped onto the bar could have dropped in. Feeling slightly more upbeat than last week but we still look a team that you think will struggle in this league.
I imagine Brentford felt like the Netherlands hockey team last night - 'how did we lose that one'! However, it's a welcome win and a step in the right direction. There was a lot of criticism of our back four in the first half, but I think some disorganisation in our midfield exposed our back line too much. Impressed with the efforts of the ward, Taylor and Brown who could be a star. Midfield was a bit symbolic and I had difficulty working out who was supposed to be doing what. We gave Brentford far too much space and time on the ball and if they had been half decent they could have had a bag full. However, they weren't and they didn't. Most of Rotherham's issues can be put down to lack of time together and things will get better. Well done AS and let's kick on from here!!
I realise im in the minority here-perhaps of one-but I thought it was a deserved win.
They had little cutting edge and gave the ball away a lot despite the possession in general.
The defence performed well indeed and we had we gilt edge chances.
Arguable, wood, their best player had lots of ball but not much else. Technically Brentford were ok but the strength of the team lacks as does ours at present.
I might have been just very relaxed but I never felt Brentford would score but I expected us to nick a second.
After 4 games that was the best performance by a margin and given yet more new players in the team, I think I feel more confident than either previous seasons at this very early stage.
I still expect us to be around the bottom of the table but I think this looks like it might be shaping up to be our best team of the 3 seasons. The loan system will of course kill or cure.
70/30 possession wasn't good, and Brown looked excellent but needs to look over his shoulder and help out the left back. Allen is starting to look a very good find and Adeyemi appeared to be 4 weeks of fitness off the pace. Barnsley will be interesting - think we could nick it.
The three points were everything really and the clean sheet a bonus. I wasn't full of doom and gloom when we lost at Villa and Brighton and I'm not full of hope after sneaking a win at home to Brentford. We won't win many more conceding possession like we did today - that's for sure - but I guess some of that was down to anxiety and wanting to hold on to the lead we had. On the plus side we will only improve as the new players get their match fitness and get used to how each other play and we clearly have some talent and attacking threat in the ranks now. Question - was Mattock only fit for the bench (noting he did a five minute cameo) or was right footed Kelly just preferred at left back based on performances?
A win is a win,This will give our lads a boost and get morale going in the team,we can only build on this win and hopefully the new lads will gel together as the weeks go bye.
Lets keep the faith fellow millers and get behind the lads, this is the toughest the championship has been since we got into the league with the big teams that came down and the teams with big investment from abroad its going to be the hard to survive, hopefully the teams like burton and the dingles will fade after a great start and we will kick on,its early doors and there is a lot of football to be played between now and May.
I thought we conceded much more due to the changes stubbs made second half.
However , he did have the balls and insight to see a way forward and try it.
Was quite impressed second half with the defence but aim starting to think small wood is going to struggle under stubbs. ..and Allen and vaulks look like they have plenty more and Adeyemi has been brought in to do what small wood can't. ..mobility and win the ball...
Interesting to see kelly at left back and captain and I thought he looked full of confidence and pride.

Smallwood will be playing a bench support role now we have Adeyemi
