Why is Stubbs after signing a left back?
Belaid and Newell are back in training..
..both can play at left back.
Along with Mattock and Warren we have 4 left backs. :/
..get some strikers in!
Warren looks miles away from being ready. Belaid is a centre half who can cover if needed but he isn't a left back really, and he has fitness worries. Newell isn't a left back and would be wasted there. Mattock is the only genuine left back on the staff who could do a regular job in the position, and in the games we have played this season he looks a long way off the pace. It is a problem position. Hopefully it isn't a choice between a left back or a striker or two. Hopefully we can cover both.
Left back is a problem. Mattock got injured end of last season, since then the slightest knock & he's substituted. Then at the moment we've got to put a right sided player there. If your 1st choice Left back either injured or off form got to get a 1st choice replacement.
Would say with a Left back & Big forward in squad would be competitive. With Belaid & Newell especially back who can cover Left back, play on the left & central midfield we'll be alot stronger.
