MATCHDAY CENTRE: Looking back on the opening day

There will be more reaction throughout the morning on our Matchday Centre. I will stack the links up on this thread to avoid congestion.

thanks Joe.

yes, spot on and well expressed.

im slightly more worried than optimistic but not pessimistic may I add...beautiful lexical contortions aside, stubbs will have to add more steel to his undoubted talent if we are going to stand a chance over the season.

There needs to be some very astute weighing up of the ability of the back 5 to work the ball and the pace we have there and in midfield if he isnt to be caught out time and again by stronger and better opposition in terms of sheer pace and power.

that Dadi and Teixera bloke did the damage. Our defence looked scared stiff when the latter ran at him. More evidence we should have been a little deeper in that last period for me and needed a big striker for an outlet...

Keeping the passing game going for 90mins plus is a different proposition than the 20 and against teams pressing much more difficult.

Who can forget watching Bournemouth emerge through the divisions and how they looked and performed and perhaps compare to Norwich too. We have a long way to go to get anywhere near them...are we getting closer to the likes of Huddersfiled and QPR, and Fulham with this style of play because thats who we need to beat to stay up.

 Another wide man?!

I would focus on strikers and centre backs personally. Hopefully they arent mutually exclusive

i think we need another two strikers

a another wideman to replace taylor or ford which along with a fit newell will give us a chance to put fresh legs on to run at defences

we definitley need a another left back and another centre back although bellaid showed some promise when he played

i was happy with a draw and breaks our losing duck.

i thinks frecks as much a i hate to say this is going to be limited to the number of games as he keeps getting injured

i would play smallwood as the holding midfielder with volks filling frecks attacking role

i think broady had a bad game didnt win many headers under pressure i know he has a nerve issue which needs regular treatment.

i think the injuries to frecks and mattock affected the tactics a bit
cos i think yates would have come on as well as scott

Think 'tiser spot on with Vaulks at 8, but a bit harsh on Taylor at only 6/10.

yeah taylor score was bit low maybe based on his 2nd half when he was shut out the game by wolves putting two men on him

he needs to pass it out in that situation and use the space they have left by putting two on him

Agree, we need 2 strikers....should go without saying hopefully.

I hope one of them is a big target man who can hold the play up very, very, very well-unless of course we are aiming to be Barcelona.
