I really cant see the Town haveing anything at all to do with recruitment.
People dont use horses to get too and fro these days.
Money talks ,its as simple as the pound in your pocket as where you live is no longer a consideration. If you are happy to sign for the Money you can live anywhere within 60 miles very easily of the ground and training. Hell! where I live the train stations are full to bursting with commuters going to and from London each day...60 minutes both ways plus the commuting time in London. Amounting to in the region of 3 hours travelling per day and I guarantee that 99% dont earn what a championship footballer at Rotherham earns.
In the case of Bradshaw we pbvioulsy havent paid as much as Barnsley have for him. Is that because we dont have it , or is it because we put a value on him?
If its the latter than there is everything to praise as it is both common sense and suggests we have a strong ethos and that in my book is good. If its the former then thats a different story as Barnsley are exactly the kind of team we have to outperform to have a good season.

Footballers aren't really bothered about that - it's the cash and likely success of the club they are considering that's more important. We clearly aren't selling the Premiership pipe dream to these guys and a year of half a dozen goals in a relegated team won't do much for the CV.
There should be an embargo on any more "Breaking" posts until one follows it with "X has been signed".
Not just footballers, there's an overall problem getting higher flyers moving to Rotherham and its surroundings. Months of negativity in the media ( and it's still not been solved) puts folks off moving to the borough, particularly those with young families.
Yes chance of success is a major factor but the club is handicapped by the Rotherham tag.
I'm not confident either New Yorkshire. I was quite optimistic that we really were going for quality rather than quantity this time but the whole thing seems to be turning to dust. Our chairman is once again making positive noises but, as usual, there is no end product. It's only about 3 weeks to the start of the season and we haven't got anything resembling a squad so I hope there is a robust Plan B. I am concerned that, despite all the talk of "big money signings" we will end up with a bunch of players that nobody else wants. I really hope I'm wrong though. UTM.
Well I have been quietly confident that one of the two would sign...... I'm now resigned to my cup of hemlock. I dont know why I feel so disappointed, this is RUFC all over, year in year out I ought to know better. Now fully in the mellowmiller camp and awaiting plan C and D
Believe me I really am a "glass half full" sort of person which was an important attribute when I was a manager in the steel industry.
However, I find all this hollow talk from the club to be quite nauseating and, unless something really positive happens soon, I think a lot of supporters will become totally disillusioned.
This coming season is a real tipping point and another relegation battle will be disastrous. Talk of a top 10 finish is all very well but is laughable if it is not backed up with positive action.
I have supported the Millers for 60 years and will never forget the bad times or what Mr Stewart has done for the club in the last few years but where do we go from here?
Your call Mr Chairman. I really hope you have got a good Plan B, C, D, E.....because things don't look too promising at the moment. UTM.
we dont know anything, which of course is part of the problem...
we dont know what deal Barnsley offered. we dont know how good Bradshaw even is.
Gregory also has lots of question marks around the 1 million plus we are well reported as having offered...1 million!!!!! This seems fairly certain given the reporting so it could be noted that we arent doing business as usual but it isnt straight forward. Every club every season gets knock backs and deals take time...
There isnt enough evidence of anything yet to suggest we should be disillusioned or even wildly optimistic of a top half finish...for now it seems to me that we are starting a new challenge with a new manager and have a lot more money to spend but its still relative to the market.

I think we need to worry - they were our targets and we failed to get them. If we want to compete at all in this league then we have to look to spend £1-2M on each player in the spine of the team - decent CB, playmaker and a striker that comes with a 20+ season tally in L1 or Champs. This is just nonsense to keep the season ticket sales going!

Up to 6million in transfer fees plus wages?
Might as well pack up now coz that ain't hoping to happen.
Unfortunately that's the reality of this division - we can't set the rules, £6M is a very modest outlay across 3 players when your peers are spending more than that on one player, multiple times.
If we are going to talk the talk, then we need to walk the walk.
