Rhythm disrupted. Why change a winning team? Also Henderson...why, Wilshire...why? Pony the pair of em. We looked knackered tonight & missed the quality of Walker & Rose's crossing.
Totally agree - no width and why not play a winning team when we hadn't qualified. Wilshire was just not at the races and Henderson the same. Why can't our manager know his best 11 before the tournament? All the other top teams play their best team should've started with the team that came off against Wales. Leaving out Kyle Walker a disgrace
Pointless putting quality crosses in if there isn't anybody to put them away. Andy Carroll should have been in the squad to give us a different option. The strikers we have taken are looking pretty toothless and what was the thinking behind Rashford going? We need to revert back to the formation we used during qualification and put Rooney up front.
I'm not a big Rooney fan but there is something in that. I did say we should have taken Carroll when announced the squad. It's still the fact that he hadn't identified his best 11 before the tournament for me - the first game saw a team that had never played together take the pitch
Reminder - Portugal couldn't beat Iceland or Austria, France couldn't beat the Swiss, Germany couldn't beat Poland.
Our strength is counter attacking and pressing high up the pitch. Total domination doesn't as we can't use our pace to play behind. Vardy got one sniff but it was on his left. At this level even the perceived rubbish nations have qualified because they're good at getting men behind the ball. Where are Holland, Bosnia or Denmark?
I don't think the changes disrupted us, we had enough & did enough. The real test to see what we are made of starts next week - that was always going to be the case. Winners aren't created in group stages. OK the path might seem more daunting, but we get an extra 2 days to recover & you can argue most teams on our half will have a lot of possession allowing us to do what we do best.... get knocked on penalties
I think we've been good in all three games without getting many breaks in front of goal. It isn't going for us at the moment but with combinations of Kane, Vardy, Rooney, Alli, Sturridge, Rashford on the pitch at different times we will score goals if we keep making chances. Tournaments aren't won in the group stages. Italy once won the World Cup after drawing three group games. Not saying we are going to win it, but we are in the mix.
It's down to Hodgson for me; what possible excuse for leaving out Rose and Walker from a team that hasn't yet qualified? Surely, players are rested only if you are in a game with nothing to lose. Too many sideways and backwards passes too, up the possession % but not the chances.
