4 weeks ago the club said they were in talks with 5 players including Derbyshire, with a picture of Derbyshire heading the article on the website.
Since then there have been a number of articles on the official website and other outlets explaining that they hoped to get these deals sorted soon.
For the club to say now that they never offered a deal to Derbyshire may be true in some literal or semantic sense, but they clearly intended him to stay.
Maybe the new manager has a different opinion to the previous one, but the article on the official website today lacks a bit of class.

That's exactly my point. The club gave every indication they had offered Derbs a new deal. Now it seems they didn't and it has all become very messy.
Perhaps after talking to Derbyshire it became obvious that what Rotherham valued him in wages and length of contract was not in line with what the player wanted and then therefore no contract was offered. Sounds straight forward to me.
Erm, the Owls had millions to spend and apparently we've got peanuts so there's no comparison!
The worry is that we'll end up with players that nobody else wants because they're not exactly going to be queuing up to come to a club that's probably going to be involved in yet another relegation battle.
