Derbs on his way?

Strong rumours he has turned down a new contract on reduced terms and is on his way to Cyprus.  Be sorry to see him go, looked like he had another Championship season in him but good luck to him and thanks for the memories.  Goals at Wednesday and MK Dons stick out for me as his finest moments.

No doubt he has scored some important goals for us, but (personally) I am not sure about his all round contribution. He is one of those strikers who for some reason has a reputation as a good finisher and someone with pedigree, but in all honesty I don't think he is quite as good as his reputation suggests.

My memory of Matty would be some important goals - MK Dons and Hillsborough as S8 says and also Bristol City away which was a great goal - but also some howling misses. Purple patches interspersed with droughts.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind if he stayed, but I am happy enough if he gets a better offer and we look elsewhere.

If Derbyshire was to stay, I think it would show that we have no ambition to finish higher than the last two seasons. No doubting his effort but our key striker needs to have a better scoring ratio. Good luck to him wherever he ends up.

He didn't score many goals but his movement off the ball was superb. He was on a different level to most of our other players and will be difficult to replace.

If you go Derbs then thanks but it's time to "upgrade"

Always liked him, great commitment and effort but, at 30 years of age the clocks ticking. I can't blame him for chasing a decent pay day (which hopefully this is?).

'Upgrade' highly unlikely. Gonna be hard to replace in my opinion. Desire, commitment, leading scorer past few seasons. ..we shall see i guess when we eventually sign anyone.
