Dont know much about Nicky and not sure how this fits in with The new Gaffers plans but the release of Best is really interesting.

We all saw what he had to offer at the end of the season and I thought he was our best target man since we came home but stubbs clearly thinks otherwise. I wonder why?

It might be that he doesnt like target men or he could have someone who he thinks is better. If its the latter then I will be surprised as Best looked like a complete package at the level we are and had something to add given continued fitness and more appearances . Of course it might also be that the deal was too rich and the gaffer simply wanted if off the table.

I think Stubbs means business and its going to be a rocky time for some of the current squad.

I go along with you there Ian,I,m just hoping AS can get something out of the 'reserve' players such as Thorpe and Belaid and maybe even the young lads like Yates. Definitely interesting times ahead.

Without wishing to buck the trend, I'm not disappointed to see him go. I understand that he probably wasn't 100% fit but, apart from a couple of occasions (Derby in particular), I thought he was an average target man. His ability in the air (compared to Danny Ward) was poor and he had limited ability to hold up the ball which was essential for the way we played last season. Perhaps AS has seen something in JCH that he thinks he can exploit - if so, he'll be the first because although he appears to have all the attributes, no manager has been able to get the best out of him. Then again, he might have a decent striker in mind - we'll see. Anyway, good luck to Best wherever he ends up.

Forgot all about JCH. not a good sign for him or me-were both getting older and time is running out to make an impact.

Come on JCH , we know you have it in you.
