Reading between all the many idioms and faux pas of NW, it seems more likely that he will take the Job.
But, regardless, who do we want.
1. Id take Warnock simple because he has got to know the team under the very best conditions and he has made it a very strong point that he wants the club to grow and has managed to get TS to consider infrastructure changes.
2. He will be very motivated based on this seasons finish.
I think the draw to help build and leave behind a well founded club and spring board it into the 21st C is, I would expect, a more lasting legacy than the onerous task of trying to gain promotion somewhere else. So I agree ian.
With many regular 1st teamers out of contract, once again we are going to have to rebuild. NW has good standing in the game, he knows who is who and his influence with potential good signings may help in getting a signature on a contract, from players who would normally dismiss an opportunity to play for us.
In his short time with us he will have a full assessment in his head from top to bottom of what is needed. He must already have a plan set up and come next season we can hit the ground running.
So to use that modern idiom that I hate but seems appropriate at this time, its a no brainer!
A big no from me. The man has a huge ego and needs to be shown he is not bigger than the club.
I ignored the fact that when he came he was saying how much he wanted to put 'something back into the club'. Correct me if I am wrong but did he offer his services for free? If so then he has put something back: if he was paid then it's just an exchange.
I also find the plethora of interviews about whether he will take the Millers job as being self promoting, and disrespectful to our club. It's as though he is thinking aloud in the media. I would have respected him much more if he had said: " I have no comment to make at the present and I will not speak again on the matter until I have made my decision on the............ ( day and date).
It's a shame because he is a fine man manager although I suspect he will need much more than that to keep us up over the course of a full season.
Thank you Mr Warnock for keeping us in the division but RUFC now need to move on.

Good points by all. I have mixed feelings on this, would I like warnock here next season it's a big yes, I feel we need that experienced guiding hand to show us the correct path to follow. After Evans and redfearn who didn't appear to have any plan it's nice to have that guidance, not only on the pitch but the infrastructure as well. But here's where I agree with TTB (hard to say). I feel we are being used as a last stop in case no better offer comes along, to me Mr Warnock either wants the job or he doesn't and if he doesn't as I said in a previous post we are going to end up with a manager with no idea on his players and very little time to find out. He won't know who to buy becauce he Doesn't know what he does or doesn't have. So I'm not sure we can give mr Warnock the month he's asking for becauce if we wait and he says no that leaves us in a very big hole and a possible worst start to the season than last.
I take your point Fliker, but I think NW has more to him than to lead us on. He has to be fair to his family and himself. I suppose too that there is more to the situation than we are aware of, most of what we debate has been regurgitated news and interviews from weeks ago, I hear nothing new. It keeps us all speculating and the subject at the top of our agenda.
I'm not certain. It sounds ridiculous after what he has done for us, but we have ground out results to get a specific job done. That job is now done. I wonder if it might be time to say a big thanks, pay the bonus and move on. Whoever is the manager we need to rebuild. Do we want to rebuild under a manager who doesn't want more than one last season? I'm coming round to thinking that perhaps we don't. Either way it wants sorting quickly.
Well I have no doubt over NWs managerial skills, what worries me is his 'style' causes burn out of players and I worry if we can have squad depth deep enough to sustain the blood and guts style we all want season long. But if TS is prepared to back him there then I don't see a problem. What NW gives us is a year to source the right man, when you have that time you can do it - look at Southampton - they have already vetted who would replace Koeman. If you read up on their club structure you can see why for their size they're so successful, in fact many clubs are now implementing their model. Like Smiler says we are still suffering the Evans effect, the short termism - again we're looking at wholesale changes again this summer and that doesn't bode well. In hindsight, Redfearn should have been assistant - to learn from NW but his duties would have been to develop the youth route to the 1st team. To have 1 man in charge of that AND 1st team duties especially a task as mammoth as ours at the time - was too much.
I'm not convinced NW will sign however, we're an awful long way from Cornwall - at his age would you do all that travelling? - had we been Bristol City he'd have signed already. I think the geography is even more important than that 8th promotion and you can't blame him for that - a season is a very long and stressful / demanding affair. I have no doubt though that if he does sign, he'll bring in the right players and a relegation scrap seems highly unlikely.
I agree that its unlikely he wouldnt be "umming and arring" if we were a big club , but I dont feel its disrespectful. Also, like Towdlad points out, the interviews are quite old now and him and TS will have had many talks much more revealing than a sound-bite.
Also, he did come here under persuasion from TS and I guess that sense of it being a quite idiosyncratic situation persists,
I wouldnt reject him due to the lack of decision at present. I do think that there is no reason he cant make that decision in the next 2 weeks. If it takes longer then its clear he needs to be guided to listen to his doubts and retire, or do something that is more comfortable for his situation. The football club cant function with uncertainty.
All in all, Id like him to stay because of the football and the points over the last 16 games. We would be hard pushed to find a better manager given the evidence, but thats not to say there isnt someone who could do even better , but one has to play the percentages.
Lot of good comments, but put yourself in his shoes:
He thought he was well and truely retired, then performs a remarkable achievement for a football club over 350 miles away, of which he has to travel there and back at least once a week.
His wife is battling a terrible illness and wants to be by her a side
Has 1 final opportunity to break records and manage an 8th promotion.
I for 1 am happy to wait a week or 2. Appreciate our position, a small club in a very big pond. I hope we secure him for another year, but happy to shake his hand and say thank you if he decides to go after 1 final promotion / challenge closer to his home.
I don't think anyone would begrudge NW for not taking another season on for either reason. All we can do is try to sell it to him, we do have the advantage that he'll be creating a legacy not just a promotion - and there's much less pressure here to perform with fans that are pretty understanding. The lag is probably a couple of things, he'll probably need a week or 2 off first and foremost! - which ties in nicely with the conclusion of the play offs where no doubt more Champ clubs doors will be open. I don't mind him waiting, he has to be sure in his own mind RUFC is right for his last season of football, he's only asking a couple of weeks not a couple of months! - Absolutely next to nothing will be happening on the transfer front due to holidays and the upcoming Euro's. No business will be conducted so what does it matter?
If he does - great - if not then we shake hands and move on - that's football
There has been a lot of talk about the possibility of NW going to another club next year with the hope of achieving another promotion. However perhaps another reason for any delay in his decision may be down to his wife's illness. It maybe the case that she may have further treatment to attend to and considering the nature of her illness this may have an impact and whether he stays or goes. Just a thought, and I'm happy to wait, its his call really.
Are fans that impatient they cant wait a few weeks for his decision...the season isnt quite finished yet.
In a few weeks we will know, and then we take it from there.
He has a lot more to think about regarding his family, and a few weeks to wait for him to figure out whats best for him is perfectly fine by me.
He's done what he set out to do and if he does decide to stay then that would be fantastic.
