A final day good hiding to remind us what a brutally tough league the Championship is but really who cares....we're safe!!!
Recruitment, both managerially & player wise is crucial this summer as we don't want a first half of the season as bad as it was this season, should be fascinating.
In a sense today was academic, but I don't think it was necessarily the worst thing that could have happened. It was a reminder in case we needed it that we have our work cut out to compete in this division - a bit of a reality check if you like. Just on the basis of the money that Hull have spent and the quality they have. A lot of hard work to do again if we are to we are to improve next season on this one.
For me, I'd have happily taken 49 points and 21st place four months ago, but a tad disappointing end, the season ended as it started. I feel now that if the club is to build and retain a firm support there simply has to be investment during the summer with a recognisable improvement on the pitch. If it doesnt, interest in the club will dwindle, on the terraces and commercially and we all know were that will end.
Now we reflect and I agree with Towdlad, this next season is even more important than previous ones. Standing still wont improve anything. Its time to turn up the investment just a little so that we look like a team thats building.
