it was disappointing yesterday but not a surprise. What we have achieved in staying up after redfearn had done so much damage is amazing really don't want to be 21st though on 49 points so was hoping for a win. All that aside if we look at the game and NW post match interview a few things come to mind
1. The players were mentally not there, kids on the pitch before, hard work done, no motivation to push on again. You can understand it though.
2. Why select the same players, surely we should have given Richardson, JCH, Burke, D. Ward a game. Maybe a few kids on the bench just to freshen it up.
3. Don't understand why we allowed the players to be so laid back before the game as if the season was over, and then complain about it on the post game interview.
4. We have only scored 1 deflected goal in 4 games now, this is an area we really need to address next year, we need a goalscorer and we may need to slim the squad and spend a bit to give us a chance. It could be said Bristol and Fulham stayed up because they have a goalscorers we stayed up because of NW, just where I would spend any money we have
5. G. Ward shows that a couple of young season long loans can work, we need to try it again
6. I don't think NW will stay. I think in his last ever season he wants to be at a championship club with a chance of promotion, Blackburn, Forest, Cardiff, Fulham, Villa could all be open to him they are bigger clubs than us with more money. He has said a few times that you need to spend. He also didn't use we much yesterday he was more distant. I hope he stays but if not I hope we have someone lined up we don't want to spend weeks trying to find a manager and then players.
It would be nice to get a result next week to end on a high, overall we have to be very very happy being in the Championship again, and the management team and players made yesterday a nothing game and thank god they did :o)
