I saw all but the Cardiff and Wrexham games back in the day S8 and on paper the 9 wins against Warnocks 6 looks the more impressive, however considering the cir***stances our recent unbeaten run has to win hands down for me.
Back then we had a settled side who had played for each other throughout the previous season with the addition of Gow and McBride, the run was earlier in the season, if memory serves correct and there didn't seem to be too much at stake or much to worry about.
Conversely, this season has seen a whole bunch of new players thrown together, told how and where to play against their natural footballing ability. They have been criticised and publicly told as a unit they were not good enough, some moved out and some even ostracised, with the club wallowing in the bottom 3 for most of the season.
And yet despite all that NW has used these same players and turned them into winners when time was short and with games and available points running out.
And finally the Hughes era is long gone history, this run is here and now and still in our hands to beat the record. So our present run is in my opinion far and about greater than the Hughes season (81/82?)
