In times past local rich people bought whatever they could and this included football teams. For the most part the connection was still there to the local people on all manner of levels but not always good for club and fan alike.
Of course nowadays its rarely a local owner and much less someone who actually cares and is not in it for a quick buck or ego dance.
All the more reason to be thankful that a local family have bonded with our Town and club and has the best interest of both at heart.
we may lose out to the excess at the top but that doesnt have to mean failure and is another reason to be proud of RUFC and its achievements .
