it was worth the trouble of just rolling down the M5 to Brizzle to watch this man play.
Player of the season for me.
The fans behind the goal were already celebrating when he saved the point blank shot in the first half.
And his heroics in the 2nd half just cemented him in the folklore of RUFC.
We play dirty, time waste and ensure we are always pushing this to the limit. it frustrates players and fans alike, but this has been part of the game since Warnock has been the boss.
On another point, to tie in with the above, when we now play, we labour to the ball when we have a throw in, we also dont pass back to an opposition player if we are close to the ball when out of play.
I think this part of the game plan has been overlooked recently and i for one think this is really shrewd.
He has been consistently good this season hasn't he, but last night capped off what a brilliant pair of hands he's been the last 6 weeks or so. Assured kicking even with pressured back passes, composed, brilliant shot stopper and reflexes Campy was immense last night and I think he's buzzing off the form of the team at the minute.
A word must be put in for Wood last night who was strong as an ox, never allowed their tall lumps to bully him, and a brilliant ball over the top for Derbs who spotted it straight away (and a great finish).
He has been the difference since he signed. Very influential.
I remember how not only he started to save things but also his man and game management was very good.
Likewise, NW has made the team so strong and introduced real game management skills . I for one think its part of being professional and slowing the game and conceding fouls in non-threatening areas is astute. I really enjoy watching it most of the time because we mix it in all the other areas of the game too.
